Anyone have a short throw shifter in their truck? It’s next on the list in my quest to have the nicest 2001 ranger ever. So far I’ve got:

power locks/keyless entry

heated power mirrors

A handmade wood console cover (matching armrests are in the works)

Backup camera

Bluetooth head unit, speakers, amp, sound dampening material

Nardi shift knob (not yet installed)

Dash camera

Foot well and puddle lights (tied into the dome light)

I’m having a hard time deciding on a shifter. Most people are touting Hurst. However I drove an S10 years ago with one and didn’t really like it. I needed to brace my shoulder into the seat in order to get it into first gear.

Which transmission does it have in it?

If it’s a T5, an MGW shifter is the best option, but pricy. A Steeda Tri-ax is also really good, and it keeps the 2 bolt style shifter handle, so you can install any other handle.

I don’t have anything super helpful to add, but I had this video pop up on youtube and the shifter on this truck is pretty sweet. Looks kind of DIY too.

I believe it’s a Mazda M5OD-R1. Steeda makes one but I’ve never heard of them. I will check it out.

I always forget those trucks, built into the mid-2000s, still look really nice on the outside but the interiors are straight out of the 70s and 80s.

I think it’s the radio, HVAC, and steering wheel that get me. The rest is perfectly fine for a work truck but that stuff is so hard to see and such trash.

I like the addition of wood if you add a wood tunnel on the roof you’ll have your own Mark III conversion.

I had a Tri-Ax once upon a time. Twas a good shifter. Steeda makes a ton of Mustang stuff.
