I’m not surprised. Sometimes an officer will look your license top to bottom and try to arrest you if it isn’t perfect to their standard.

I almost got arrested for buying alcohol with a license that still says “Male”. If the only discrepancy on a license (with a freaking watermark and hologram from the state) is gender, it’s probably safe to assume the person is who they say they are AND APPEAR IN THEIR PICTURE.

But OK, identity theft. Yep, whatever bro.

Yeah, this was so dumb. I’m sure she was breaking some rules, but throwing her in jail seems a massive overreaction, and I’m pretty sure not letting her contact a consulate is just illegal.

Well, seeing as the charge was a bullshit “driving without a license” it wasn’t the first illegal thing they did... but yeah, even if the charge was correct I don’t see how they get away with that.

Yeah, I mean, she might have been required to get a TN license at some point, but frankly, I don’t think most college students do that (I certainly didn’t, despite registering to vote in my university’s state), and even if she was, that seems like something that warrants a fine, not an arrest (the Canadian license would be valid regardless). Not being able to prove immigration status is something that could get her reported to ICE, but shouldn’t result in a lockup over speeding.
