I’m tempted to just throw it all on a credit card and pay it off by the end of the month, but I’m going to do the responsible thing and wait for a few more paychecks.

My ‘05 Grand Cherokee is rapidly approaching 190k miles so it needs some maintenance. I recently picked up a used radiator fan for $130. It’s hydraulic and costs ~$1000 new so that’s not too bad. It also needs shocks and struts, spark plugs, oil change, diffs & transfer case fluids and brakes within the next few months. Nothing too outrageous, but it adds up.

Anyone else have some maintenance they’re going to do now that the weather’s nice?

I need to do a good wax on both cars. Does that count?

Just did the front rotors and pads, valve cover gasket. Had a shop do a front bearing, control arm bushings, an engine mount, radiator fan resistor, supercharger oil, water pump and replaced all the fluids.

I’m going in for an alignment tomorrow and I should be set for the summer.

It’s always such a great feeling to be good to go for a while.

Considering the sheer amount of pollen and bird shit that’s all over my car, I don’t see why not!

I was considering doing shocks and struts, but I am told (by 2 out of 3 shops) that mine are ok. Instead I got two of my wheels straightened today since they were definitely bent.

May do a junkyard run this weekend for a few miscellaneous items, but thinking that laziness is more likely.

Honest truth: I do it mostly to see my cat scramble for footing on the hood.

I am a bad person.

Oil change—which is easy—but I’ve been waiting on it because I also want to do my valve cover gasket and install an oil filter sandwich plate so I can hook up my new oil pressure gauge. Also have sway bars and endlinks to install. And an entire cooling system. Some aero mods. Underbody protection. New shifter. There’s quite a bit right now....

Coming up, suspension install on the Taco. Upgrading lights front and rear on the Cougar and hopefully throwing some seats in there, too. Might as well patch the floor while I’m at it. Suppose the truck needs an oil change, too.

Mine is pretty weird. It’s men’s shoes, women’s clothes, women’s shoes, car parts, books, and the occasional gadget like a power brick.

I feel you man. I was gonna get myself a beater this month but an urgent need to buy someone a plane ticket (family emergency) suddenly appeared so now I got to wait a few more paychecks too.

Yeah, so in the meantime, start digging ever so slightly into my engine: spark plug re-gapping.
