Nine grand for a dead Land Cruiser with the steering wheel on the wrong side for the country it’s in? That’s ambitious.

The Patrol is top dollar too...in an Australian context. Especially with that engine...by Huey, those things had a drinking problem. However, they were pretty good...and the modification community has had a field day with them!

Yeah seems a lot given that the main reason to import one is the engine. If it’s dead.. well...

...and with a 4.2 litre intercooled TDi engine that has been poked with magic. Bigly fun...

Last year a manual light blue 80 series Landcruiser came up for sale near me with something like 60k original km on it. Like this but entirely unmodified:

And they were asking less than AU$20k for it. I regret not buying it every time I see one on the road. Which is often.

I’ve had an unnatural attraction to old Patrols since I started following the 4WD Action clowns on YouBoob.

The heart says “Patrol”, but the wallet says “hiking boots”.

They’re fun. Best part by far is their camp cooking bits. Other than that I feel like they generally pack a bit heavy, but it ain’t my truck so what do I care!

Australian touring = heavy packing. To be fair its a big place and you better have spares. I guess its something like a catch 22 - pack spares = heavier truck = more breaks.

Yeah, though I guess I would be more spare-heavy if I were alone. These guys roll into the bush with like 5 trucks, a local guide, an aluminum boat, 2 trailers, and a sat phone! Regardless, I love watching them figure out how to drag a trailer though a bog with a wonkey locker and a broken birfield! Makes my trips look super uneventful.
