We have one at work it gets along just fine. I would say it’s on par or better than our 4.8 V8 Silverado. I averaged 21.5 mpg with 3 adults and 1000lbs in the bed at 70mph.

The 4.8 is not something you want to benchmark. Not enough low end for a truck.

On a related note, I’m convinced it would make a great Z/28 engine, because once you actually manage to get it rolling and get the revs up past about 2500 it loves to pull. It’s a screamer (it is just a destroked 5.3 after all). And that’s set up for use in a truck—with some attention in the right places it would be awesome in a lightened, track-focused Camaro.

My department has one. I was really disappointed to see “V6" on the valve cover when I popped the hood. That said, it’s actually a pretty decent truck. Adequate power and high-teens/low-twenties MPG.

What’s up with this ad? Flexible fuel? I guess this means diesel or jet-A, right? Or is the interior color called Diesel Gray? And ‘4 wheel drive - rear’ - OK, which is it? Probably part-time 4WD, but that still looks weird. Like dealers that say they have a car with a manual, but there’s no clutch pedal - manual mode on an auto doesn’t mean manual transmission.

The all-new ‘19's have been out for a few months now and I’m starting to see them everywhere. I’d imagine it’s pretty hard to sell those ‘18's without some pretty big discounts while they are sitting right next to the obviously-improved ‘19's on the lot. Interestingly, based on the story about the Ram heist, it seems like they are still making new ‘18's along with the ‘19's, so they must still be making money even at those discounts.

flexible fuel means it can run on E85 Ethanol and yeah that interior color is actually called Diesel gray. and yes its part time 4 wheel drive

well for 3 grand more than the V8 Ram you can get this 2018 F-150 with the same features except its also the 3.3L V6 so you dont even get ecoboost tech

For a V8 youre looking at 38

but even still these are some steep discounts for last years left over stock.

I’m actually kind of looking for a truck right now, but it will probably be a used 4x4 Tacoma or Canyon. I just don’t see the need for a full-size.

I thought it was the diesel V6, not gasoline, hence the flex fuel comment. ‘Diesel Gray’ as an interior color? Shouldn’t that be ‘Diesel Black’? It’s plain ol’ boring gray - don’t try to fancy it up...

no thats the regular gas v6, its just a flex fuel vehicle so it can run on E85, if it was the ecodiesel V6 it would have said diesel under the fuel type

I agree on style. The 2009-2018 has aged well and the new one had a few design cues that are kind of a mess. But I think the new one has so many improved features otherwise that the ‘18's need a big discount. And the 2019 still looks better than the new Chevy abomination. (In photos anyway - I’ll admit I haven’t seen a 2019 Silverado in person yet.)

I bought a 2018 Ram 1500 Night edition (5.7L, 4x4, crew cab) 2 months ago and if I recall correctly, the sticker was about 50k, and my out the door price was 39,500 with the employee discount.
