It passes both of Torch’s wagon tests, but I’m not OK with it.

Seems like it’s questionable whether it meets rule #2, since the roof doesn’t cover the sides of the cargo area?
Agree with Opposaurus, though - it’s a mess.

The back half would work on a batmobile. From the side though, it reminds me of Harold and Maude.

“What would be the result of a grotesque mating between a ‘71 Buick and a Smart Roadster” - questions nobody has been enough of a moron to ask until now, apparently.

Yeah I was just gonna say, this reminds be of the Riviera.

I do not think the rear opens. I would call it a coupe speedster, in similar vein to the 1929 Auburn Cabin Speedster.

I understand this was used as a soundbite, but I still feel the urge to defend the Crossfire.

Hey! I like the boattail Riv. Although I would like it better if it was 7/8ths scale. tbh.

I like the ‘71 Riv too, but I’m hesitant to suggest it should be mated with anything. I think you can see why.

Yeah, I’ll admit that it’s a genetic dead end, and that it’s probably better that way.

Looks like the back-end of Flynn’s Light Cycle from Tron: Legacy, doesn’t it?

The sides aren’t cargo area, nor are they the floor of the cargo area.
![]() 05/08/2018 at 11:54 |

So that’s just dead space, then?

It’s airspace, outside the car. Just think of the sheetmetal like large fender flares, like calling the area above them “cargo space”.

I’m referring to what’s *under* the sheetmetal, not above it. Not familiar with the car, but at a glance it appears that there might be additional storage (or not) off to the sides - like how the Vee in a boattail Riviera doesn’t cover the whole trunk.

yep - not shooting brake, it’s a boattail

I thought they were air vents, but see now they are brake lights. I’m not convinced that there’s actual storage there, it doesn’t seem like it would be worth the effort for an inch of space. It’d be easier and look nicer if it was just trimmed down the sides.
