Enjoy our police buying stupid* cars:
No need for an interrogation room when you have an interrogation smart.
In the list of the least efficient trucks according to the EPA, this Jeep tries to keep up with criminals in the paved streets of Mexico City with a slowish v6 and a “Ah fuck the taxpayer” attitude.
Bulletproof WK2 Durango, sure. But why is it the Limited/Citadel Trim? Do perps really deserve heated and cooled seats?
W
*: Smarts aren’t stupid, just uncomfortable for police work.

Citadel Durango because cops like comfy seats, too. JK unlimited because it’s hard to get perps into the back seat of a regular JK. Smart because they park it easier when responding to a crime.
All of these are perfectly logical.

When I lived in Ithaca, the police had a couple of these:
They were mainly used for community outreach type things. They had manual transmissions (I witnessed some horrible roll-back/grinding when they were driven on the hills).

How to fool people into thinking your police force is terrible: use a Smart.
Proceed to drive right up to the scene of a crime inside the smart car and make the arrest.
Can’t physically access it with the car? Park anywhere.
