I’ve given up on the xB after a month old repair failed in exactly the same way. 10+ years of ownership is coming to an end.
So now i am car hunting, and 2009+ Honda Fits are what I’ve decided on as having the right combination of cargo space, size, fuel efficiency, and fun driving dynamics. I’m heading out after work tonight to look at this one. It is very purple, but is otherwise what I’m looking for and a decent price.
Wish me luck.

Good luck. I’ve yet to meet anybody that regretted buying one of those.

What was the failed repair on the XB? It would never have been due to incompetence by the shop that repaired it would it?
Fits are decent little cars! :)

Good choice! Only thing I’d note is that there was a combination of minor suspension revision and slightly less minor chassis stiffening that happened in the midcycle refresh, so 2012-14 Fits will feel a bit more buttoned up than the older GEs. Get a Fit Sport if you can manage it, the GE Sports have a rear sway bar and it is noticeable compared to the base model.

Power steering belt flipped over and therefore was slipping. When i replaced it i checked and the pulleys are aligned and not wobbling. Brand new belt did it again.
It is minor, but it has a laundry list of other problems, and i just hit a point of “I have enough shit i need to fix on you, I’m not dealing with mystery failures over and over again!”
I need reliable wheels and a shorter “to do” list in my life as I’m dealing with some health issues that severely limits how much energy i have to deal with projects.

Everybody seems to love their Fit! If I were getting a new city car it would be high on the list to check out.
I’ve never driven one; how are they to drive?

My budget just barely stretches to the 2009 models, but that is good to know in case something lucky comes along.
I was already looking at Fit Sports for the included interior options. Nice to know they actually did something sporty to them.

Surprisingly good for something that seems narrow & tall. The shifter throw on the one I drove was really short, and it stayed flat with the (limited) amount of darting around I did on the test drive. It definitely has the zippy feel that supports the old “It is more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow” adage.

Cool! As a passenger (once) all I noticed was how surprisingly roomy it is on the inside
