It’s in Glacier National park and is the only way through the park. In the summer it is packed with sightseeing tourists. This time of year they are plowing the road and the road is closed to cars. So we road our bicycles about 14 miles up then had a snack and road back. I have actually not driven the road since 2002 but ride it in the spring about twice a year.

The going to the sun road is beautiful. I had the chance to drive it in my M3 at the crack of dawn on my way out of the park. Breathtaking and but-clenching beautiful at the same time.

yeah i can imagine trying to ride this is the summer would be pretty much suicide.

They restrict the times you can ride in the summer when there are cars on the road. I’ve ridden sections in the summer with cars and it sucks.

I might have to do something similar this year. It would be awesome at 5 am when the sun is just coming up.

This is how I feel every time I drive through Rocky Mountain Natl. Park Excellent driving roads clogged with tourists at 15mph speed limits.

Yeah, isn’t this road only fully open July-September or something? The high country season out West is super short.

Yes the road is usually open by mid to late June and closed by early October once the snow stops melting.
