I’ve parked my less-than-a-decade-old TSX (aka an Accord in other parts of the world) next to a new Civic before. They’re the same size.

Now, look up the size of a Dodge Journey and the starting price. That’s the reason they still sell.

Hot Take: the Journey is better built than our Odyssey, but nobody talks about it because Honda apparently has hidden sex videos for every major publisher (and Consumer Reports).
No other explanation.

2015. Engine and tranny are sound, but everything else is a hastily-designed and assembled mess.

That sounds right. I think 2010 through 2015 was when the Japanese products showed the damage from the economic collapse (US as well as their own market, plus supplier issues and recalls, all around the time of your Odyssey).
I’m trying to track when most manufacturer’s products were hit and how they attempted to stay alive without being able to afford what they were making (suppliers especially).

At school one of the admin staff has a newish 3 series wagon and when it’s parked next to my 05 V70 and one of the math teachers 03 M5 it looks gigantic.
