No longer having to come back to a freshly washed car looking like it’s never been touched thanks to Ohio pollen after only a 3 day business trip.
signed a lease on a nice townhouse with an oversized two car garage. I’m not even going to lie and admit I was looking more for a home for my car. The picture doesn’t do it justice but it was like that all over the car. To think we were around freezing not two weeks ago.

Piglet is covered in waterspots with atmospheric dust.
Not sure if the weather system was from North Africa so may have Saharan sand in which is very abrasive so will no touch wash tomorrow with different snow foams.

I really want to get a foam gun to do this. I want to only do touch-less because I’m terrified of my 28 year old, single stage paint. I don’t want to buy a pressure washer though -_-

It’s not completely touchless as Piglet wears a lot of sealant but I prewash, snow foam shampoo, then gently let the mitt with no pressure glide over the surface.
A little touching is required to break the surface tension

I am so happy to not really have pollen here in Los Angeles. I always forget how much it sucks for my entire car to be coated in that crap. Including the interior since I never bother putting the top up on the Miata. I spent a week in Dallas a month ago and thought I was going to die. I had just forgotten how annoying that crap was lol.
Having a garage is the best though also. Knowing that having my car parked at home means it is somewhat safe from being stolen/vandalized as well as out of the sun. I am never going to bother replacing the top on my Miata again since I can park at home overnight without bothering to put it up. So the little tears won’t have a chance to become gaping holes.

No proper washing is truly touchless.
In fact washing the car is where most damage is done to the paintwork.
But the idea of the snow foam is to soften, lift and emulsify the dirt so when you have rinsed and about to do your two bucket wash, you don’t need to apply pressure and don’t need to scrub at certain spots.
The principle of softening the dirt with the snow foam, followed by the two bucket wash so your not reintroducing the dirty water back to the vehicle.

Three days? That’s three hours in Deep South pine country. Thankfully we’re a couple weeks past the peak now.

I do the two bucket method but I like the idea of pre foaming it. Are the foam guns that work off hose pressure worth while or do you need to go the pressure washer route?

The ones that use water mains pressure through a hose are okay for getting products on a car, but the snow foam lance such as the classic PA foam lance put it out in a thicker foam that clings to the car as opposed to a watery foam that runs off the car.
The thick foam allow the dirt to soften and lift as the foam gradually comes away.
If need be and you have one, you can use a snow foam through a garden sprayer such as pump action one though you’d use more product, you would get relatively thick foam and a strong arm from doing all the pumping, let it dwell for a few minutes (but not dry) and then hose off with a fine fan fast jet.
The hose end types with out a pressure washer just put out too much water to get any effective foam from.

Ok thanks! That makes sense. I’ll look into options but might just might bite the bullet and get a pressure washer haha

Granted they can be time consuming to set up but you can get some good deals if you know where to look and can be greatly beneficial to cleaning the car as they get a lot more crud off the car than a regular hose, and can really get into wheel and wheel arch areas.
Just treat them right by bleeding the water through before turning it on so any air pockets can be expelled so as not to damage the water pump or motor and it’ll last for years.

That sounds terrible. I also did touchless due to a looot of debris as well.

I’m on the north side of Cincinnati so we aren’t too far. I know there’s at least a few people on here from the area
