Eclipse from one of the wrecking yards for your time .
The repaired ECU for mom’s Ford Focus Mk1 didn’t change anything, guess it’s a deeper flaw than the usual ignition transistors.
Found a part-number matching ECU at a wrecking yard, but no key, so no immobilizer chip i can move over = it needs reprogramming, which only a Ford Dealership can do because safety and what not. Going tomorrow to set up a time, hear if they want the number-matching ECU along with the car, or how they’re gonna tackle it.
Wouldn’t have had this issue with a carb and distributor...
Hopefully that fixes it so the Focus can stop hogging space and making me annoyed in the garage ASAP.
(Bonus side note, quoted a brand-new ECU for lolz, 1769$ american)

That price for a new ECU for a car that’s probably worth $2k boggles my mind. You’d think they’d have to drop the prices a bit eventually.

It was bought for that amount, but i think the price is set when it was new, and it won’t ever change, despite it being a cute little 18mhz chip with 1MB of RAM doing all the vital calcs needed to control the multiple explosions per second.... It’s silly man, i can probably fit an aftermarket ECU for that and have spare.
