Missing the Dodge Dart.
Also missing Wranglers and bro trucks.

2018 models only.

Last time I saw an army person in the US said person had an F-150 with veteran plates.
I did some research on it and apparently if you have a DD-14 form you can have vet plates, and “Veteran” stamped in your license.

Those cars are so Army.
Marines buy a Fiat Abarth because they’re gluttons for punishment (suspension, sound, reliability...)
Air Force guys buy GTIs because reasons.
Navy...uh, amphicar? Naval aviators just buy a big SUV not because they want one, but so they can look down on everyone else.

AT V6 only, unless you’re an E5 or higher. Then you get a V8.

They don’t buy most of these new, they buy them from seedy dealers near the bases after someone traded it in when they were transferred.

Needs more CTR.

Am I allowed to make jokes about people in the Army? considering how you guys revere the troops I’m concerned I might have my B2 Visa taken away if I do.

Hey.
HEY.
Leave me alone.

Don’t worry, they wouldn’t get the jokes anyway.

I wouldn’t think a Marine would feel comfortable in an effeminate/hateful shitbox like that, but I don’t have a better stereotype for them. All the older ones I knew when working for a government contractor drove trucks. They weren’t always outrageous trucks, either, but they were always full-size.
Not inaccurate on Air Force. They always seem to go for something foreign and as expensive as possible. In the following years, when they go work for government contractors in war zones, they come home and buy luxury SUVs with their big tax-free paychecks.
All our Navy guys were weird. The most memorable owned a manual Ford Ranger. I can’t even think of what the others owned (just like generic transportation appliances), but based on others I’ve known in different contexts, small trucks are a curious pattern...

I was gonna reply this to Ash:
“Marines buy a Fiat Abarth”
No wonder their motto is
Semper CEL

Also FiST & FoST with no options.

The Abarth’s suspension is pretty soft. I drove one last night, rides no harsher than my CX-3

Needs more Jeep Wrangler.

Man, everyone I knew drove beaters. Not a lot of people got tied up in car payments when their initial take home pay was about $400/month.

Huh. All the ones I know import skylines and other jdm treasures

You’re missing a ton of WRXs and FR-Ss, from a guy who looks at them all day on a military base.

I didn’t make this.

alrighty then.
![]() 05/03/2018 at 15:46 |

Accurate. Most places they can’t sell the low-trim ST twins. I live near a large military base and they can’t sell the high-trim STs.

I want one and I’m 32. You know this.

Don’t forget the 23% APR financing to go with it.

Shocking. Every time I see one, the driver seems to be wincing. Or maybe he’s just posing for a selfie on his Instagram.
Resting Sport Suspension Face.

Left out 23% interest.
Edit: Had a Soldier buy an Escalade after my first deployment. Put down every cent he saved over deployment and still had a $1500/month payment. After insurance he could put gas in it once and had about $100 for the rest of the month

Yep. And around here most of the CTR owners are military. A few years ago it was Si’s and G37s.

Sport bikes too.

Not too many of those out here, but it’s just getting warm. There is a Busa that wanders around a lot but I don’t think they work near me.

I also forgot the Toybaru twins. They like those, too.
When I ordered mine I had the weirdest interactions with the dealer near the base (also the closest Ford dealer by road to where I lived at the time). Suffice to say, I didn’t buy from them because they wouldn’t take less than MSRP and they really didn’t want my business because it was a spec they’d have a hard time selling if I backed out.
Bizarre.

Oh, yeah. Automatic, of course.
Ugh, I hate dealers like that.

I have those here in Oregon, my plate is even permanent. Sadly I can only get one of those plates.
![]() 05/03/2018 at 16:12 |

Of course.
Eh, I’m glad I didn’t give them my money. I’m sure they would have done something shady.
Seriously, though, they’re a garbage dealer for other reasons as well. I tried to get parts there for a couple of my cars over the years and they were always hopeless (not to mention a long drive).
![]() 05/03/2018 at 16:12 |

Are vet plates the only permanent ones in Oregon?
![]() 05/03/2018 at 16:17 |

Ew. The dealers I’ve dealt with have (one Honda and one Acura, plus the original Carmax) have been pretty honest with me (and the Honda dealer doesn’t even mark up CTRs when they come in). The only shady thing the Ford dealer by the base does is mark up its V8 Mustangs, but that’s probably for the common good.
![]() 05/03/2018 at 16:23 |

All of them need to be base models, and then a few weeks/months later they will have different wheels, limo tint, and windshield banners.

No I know the antique are permanent, but the rules are pretty stringent. Something like you car has to be older than half the number of years since 1900. So this year it would be a 59. There are plates for specialty vehicles that are also permanent.

Apparently you can register straight up race cars.

Nah, you gotta buy a 2007 Impala for $15k with 30% interest from a buy here pay here lot 5 minutes from post.
