That means the steering, despite being electrically boosted, is as communicative as BMWs of yore. The chassis, shared with Kia’s similarly excellent Stinger, is super stiff, the perfect platform on which to build performance sedan. And the suspension is that magical combination of soft enough for bumps and tight enough for apexes that BMW used to have sole proprietorship of.”

hmmmmm

Things that can work against it:

Brand loyalty/snobbery whatever you call it aka “It’s still a Hyundai”

No one’s buying sedans, even sport sedans

Genesis (really Hyundai) dealership experience

No manual on the 3.3T

Resale value (Great if you end up picking one used tho)

Exterior styling, Small back seat (Not as bad as ATS), Pop-up screen

Also, The Reddit thread pretty much sums up everything that needs to be said about the Jalop-special 2.0T

Yay the manual 2.0t is no longer a myth, it exists!

And prices are now revealed, at least on the Canadian website

Excited to see some head to head comparisons!

Seems like a solid competitor in this segment.

I HATE that crooked hockey stick trim on the side, though. Just as bad a Buick’s portholes or this awesome idea they did on the Focus. :/

Hype indeed, both authors seem to be of the “never met a car I didn’t like” sort. Still, nice to see relatively exciting new offerings that aren’t heavy CUVs.

Let’s hope they’re competitive in the US. Leasing especially because it is the bread and butter when it comes to the German competition.

I highlighted those specific statements because it was very high praise. I will still wait for final judgement until I see more opinions of the US reviewers I follow. I trust The Straight Pipes more and they really liked it.

Yeah, the one comparing it to a likely common spec 2008 3er kind of made me laugh.

Mainstream reviews will be interesting too, sometimes they dare to air a less than swooning opinion. Euro reviews will be also be interesting (assuming it makes it to Germany and Limeyland).

Yes. It’s all Hyundai’s fault for not offering an option to have it come used directly from the factory.

They do offer that - it’s called leasing :).

Will be interested to see what lease rates are like on these - that’ll give us an idea of what Hyundai Genesis expects residuals to be.

Dontchya know, only idiots and financially irresponsible morons lease cars?

They have been teasing this forever! so slow to release it in the US, release pricing, etc. Expected to come this summer but I emailed local Genesis dealers and none of them seem to know the date.

One interesting thing that I’ve noticed is that my local KIA dealer shows different prices for purchase and lease. For example, $45k for a GT2 lease but $55k to purchase. I assume they’re doing this to make more attractive lease rates, but it’s still a little odd, to me.

Yup. That’s what Kia does. When we bought my wife’s Kia it was $4800 off if you leased, $1500 and 0% if you financed. We wanted to purchase though.
