On Monday I went over Monarch Pass, Sapinero, Cerro Summit, Red Mountain Pass, Molas Pass, Coalbank Pass, Wolf Creek Pass, and Poncha Pass.

I bought some Adobe Milling hot sauce that I like in Durango. The only parts that were not so fun were a sneaky patch of ice on Monarch, and the insane crosswinds through the San Luis Valley. I had to slow way down and ride what felt like sideways to cut through.

I didn’t really take any pictures. Just enjoyed riding some twisties on a weekday before the traffic really picks up.

Oof, how did you not get sore arms and rear with all those miles on a street bike.

Sargents seat, that helps. I was definitely ready to be done by the time I got home, but I was still feeling good while riding.

For the arms, it’s all about form. Weight on the pegs, knees gripping the tank, loose hand grip, and core engaged. This keeps stress off the wrists and arms. The bike also has a small riser to elevate the grips 1 inch, and foot pegs 1 inch lower than stock.

The VFR is way more comfortable than it looks at first glance. I had a yellow 00 with a high mount pipe just like this one (though mine was 2bros) and I used to just rest my chest on my tank bag and knock out tons of miles. Anyways, y’all probably know the VFR, just reminiscing. Miss that bike.

Got a CBR1000RR after the VFR, and it was faster but never made me as happy all around as the VFR. Great V4 motor, too, with a really broad, usable powerband.

that sounds like a sweet ride, especially before the Texas RVs start blocking those twisty roads.
