...Until I get into the office on Tuesday morning and seemingly have five times as much work to do. I don’t get it, Mondays are usually not that busy. Apparently just when I’m not here, the office decides to do nothing and just forward everything to my inbox. So this has been me for the last 3 hours...
Sorry, just needed to vent. For your time, here, have a video about the FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
At least the day is flying by...

If I take 8 hours off on Monday, I’m 12 hours behind on Tuesday.
I call it vacation synergy. It tends to taper off by the third day once people realize you’re not there to give them an answer, so they go elsewhere.
The corrollary there is if you take 5 or more days off, you’ll come back to the office and only be 3 hours behind.
Crazy. The moral of the story: never take a single day off except Friday, people will flip out with confusion.

Well on my way to only having nubs to type with.

Yeah, Fridays are super easy to get away with. The directors and other tippy-top managers are all trying to dodge work anyway, so they probably don’t even notice if I’m not replying to calls or emails. But Mondays, oh boy do they ever notice.

That’s funny, but I honestly don’t hate my job. I get frustrated at times, but that is hardly a unique experience. Overall, I actually enjoy what I do every day. I don’t wake up in the morning with an overwhelming sense of dread and foreboding, and I know I’m a lot more fortunate in that aspect than a lot of other people.

I liked my last job for the first 15 years. The next three were so bad I eventually just quit. Couldn’t even stick around to see if I would get a package after all those years.
But happy hour....yeah, I still love happy hour!

I’ve been at my current job for almost 7 years now, and in the same career path for 15 years. I’ve applied for a new promotion within the company that, while within the same vague scope of work, would be in a totally different department and doing very different day-to-day tasks.
Part of me is excited about all the new opportunities this would put before me (as well as a sizable pay raise), but part of me is also nervous about moving away from the same line of work that I’ve done consistently since I was 20 years old and still in college.
And cheers to happy hour!

I used to hate going to work on Mondays, so eventually I just quit my job. I’m a lot happier now and have a lot more free time, but the money isn’t as consistent now that I’m freelancing. Overall I’m still happy I quit.
