Wow. There is a lot to unpack here. Yeah, I would bet this is one of those generic “WE NEED YOUR TRADE NOW” things. I was getting those for my Civic years after I’d sold it.

What is surprising is the check was legit enough looking that an actual bank cashed it. Usually they’re pretty comical. So if it was good enough to “fool” a bank (or at least a teller) I feel like the dealership did something wrong, I’m just not sure what.

Obviously something was up with that check. If you look at the top right corner the imprinted check number was 9169, while if you look in the MICR line it is check number 9121. But I think you’re right. This was a promotional piece of junk mail but I’m really surprised it doesn’t have some writing on it saying “non-negotiable” or other such language.

Ever see the movie, “Nebraska”? The Nissan dealer could have at least given him a hat.
