Well yeah, in Autocross unless the aero is designed for 45mph it’s not going to do anything. Get out on a track where you consistently take turns at > 75mph and you’ll start getting smoked.

Nah, he’s a really good guy and a good driver. The ZL1 is new to him too (he ran an SS 1LE last season and was scary quick in it), I have no doubt he’ll get quicker too as he adjusts to the psychotic speed of the thing.

I remember when the Miata first came out and we were racing a prepared Datsun 240z. Well that fucking car almost beat me, and I had to step up my game a notch or two. I was like no way 1.6 liters is gonna ruin my day.

Does look like a handful, and seeing a 650hp car with true aero, a good chassis,etc being sold for less than 70,000 dollars

I’m still trying to adjust to the lack of weight of the thing. The TA had a ton of tire, but I had to wait for the weight to transfer and stabilize (and if you tried to rush it, it got sloppy). The Miata just jumps back and forth like it has no mass, it’s hilariously fun.

It’s already STS prepped, I’ll probably put the adjustable lower control arms on the rear to get more camber and be done. It needs more driver mod than anything else, lol.

I’ve seen em, I really liked those cars but I’m not sure it’s a competitor in terms of capabilities. In general I think GM takes the sports car crown for USDM cars.

GM and Ford have approached it from different directions. Ford went completely with chassis development and driving dynamics, while Chevy went big power and aero. (See Ford GT vs Corvette ZR1 as well) From what I’ve read the Fords are easier to drive and would probably be more consistent and faster over multiple laps, while the Chevys are one lap champs.

I always thought the Camaro was a better chasis for a sportscar than the Mustang, but it’s anecdotal evidence from reviews really.
I guess both play to their strengths, Ford makes fantastic hot hatchbacks and their AWD systems in the Focus RS and the MKZ 3.0 ecoboost are incredible, but GM has gotten their shit together with good RWD chassis cars that have been universally praised and that monstrous LS helps them. Nevermind their fancy magnetic dampers!

GM has always been really good at building handling cars for a given period of time. Even back in the ‘80s, the Corvette with the Z51 package was making mockery of 911 Club Sports. Really, Ford hasn’t been much good at anything performance until fairly recently when it comes to road-cars.

Awesome, but not surprising! I remember an old article where one of the car rags put up the Bentley Continental Supersports against a Miata on an autocross course. The Miata won there too - that’s what the Miata is built for.

Generally raw just means not pax, and you specify ‘clean’ vs ‘dirty’
