Motor Trend calling the RS5 a German Camaro. I always thought they looked similar myself and I knew with how good the current Camaro is, they’d be comparing it to the Germans for a while

Motor Trend tries to justify the ZL1 price point for SS performance by suggesting that you’d need something that would blend in with the rest of your hedge fund manager coworkers. That’s still crazy though because you could have an A4 or A5 and an SS Camaro for the same price as the RS5.

Audi RS models don’t make any sense to me. A car at that price point is usually bought as a status symbol, but RSs aren’t ostentatious enough to be noticed by the general public. You’re basically buying an Audi RS so you can show off to the very small portion of the population who actually know and appreciate what it is.

Am I the only one that gets irrationally angry at Audi for insisting on mounting their engines completely forward of the front axle? I mean I get that you want to run AWD, but you can do that without putting the engine in front of the front axle giving you crappy weight balance.

The only RS that makes sense to me is the RS3 because it has absolutely bonkers performance for its price and vehicle class. I almost got one.

Otherwise, the S cars offer, like, 90% of what you want for 25% less money. This is why I didn’t get an RS3, despite the above statement.

If you think you want to buy any RS model, drive its S counterpart before committing to that purchase. Even if you think the S is down on power, a quick trip to the tuning shop will fix that, and they can even reset the ECU and flash counter so that VAG is none the wiser if you have to take it in for warranty work.
