Kinja'd!!!

I had a great time in the U.K. but I’m ready to be back in my own apartment. Between getting a new job, moving, a week long business trip to New York, and now 10 days out of the country, I’m ready to be home. I’ve had one free week since the weekend of February 24th; I’m going to do nothing this upcoming weekend.

That’s me this weekend. No obligations...though I set my alarm to watch Baku and I’m trying to drag myself out of bed and to the pub.

Had a great time. Really beautiful country, all of it. I’ll have to make a return trip at some point. I was even getting used to driving on the left.

You won’t of seen much of Cumbria’s scenery driving up the M6, but if you love scenic walks, quaint villages and generally the isolation of being in one of the largest and least populated areas of the U.K. Cumbria is a great destination. Some great roads too (not for the faint hearted as they are very narrow and usually driven much faster than you’d think for that type of road).

That’s how you know that the trip wasn’t too short - when you’re actually ready to be home!

Enjoy the westbound ride—

My schedule hasn’t been as hectic as yours, but I know the feeling. In the past month, I’ve spent a week at home. I’ve been away from home for over a week right now...and it’s getting old.

Then again...it was 78 and wonderfully sunny here, and 40 and cloudy back home yesterday...

We spent a lot of miles on back roads, hardly anytime on the m6 since my friend wanted to drive though a National Park.

This was the route we took, and then more back roads to Ayr.

That’s a pretty good route, A591, A66 then M6. The roads aren’t all that narrow and good scenic views.

Next time, hang a left at Ambleside.
