Maybe the world’s cleanest 944. One-owner, garaged all its life. Apparently hasn’t been started in five years, though. But just look at it!!!

Never understood people who ordered the 944 with that rear light bar. Just not my thing.

Gib to Shop-Teacher!
There was a fairly clean 944 competing in the rallycross last weekend. Although it left slightly less clean.

My coworker has decided that I want a 944. It doesn’t sound like a bad idea in theory but he isn’t exactly volunteering to help fix any of the Craigslist examples he emails all day.

I have urges toward those wheels that probably shouldn’t be mentioned in polite company.
Aren’t the 924s, 928s, 944s and 968s rejected in the Porsche community for being water cooled front engine cars?

Yes. Yes they are. But who cares what snobs think.

Clearly Porsche did, since they only do FR layouts in SUVs and cars that are almost SUVs now.

whereas they are now water cooled rear engined cars.

It’s a reflector panel in the middle, easily removed. My buddy’s 944 came with it in the trunk, and I think I’ve successfully talked him out of putting it back on.

I think it was more front engine than anything else, although there are certainly plenty that believe all real ones are air cooled.

I was so affected by these wheels that I had to learn more about them...
The community calls them “cookie cutters” and they are the base wheel, but they’re usually black on this model. Silver ones were put on 911s of the era. The consensus is that the optional “fuch” wheels are more desirable as they’re more closely associated with higher end cars, but they were also, by far, the most common wheels these cars were ordered with in the US. Not only are the cookie cutters rarer here, but gold ones are likely quite rare.
So very sexy. I am now trying to find something similar that would fit my car, even though it is unlikely I’d buy them. These are definitely the wrong bolt pattern and too small to fit over my brakes...

And it probably still needs the timing belt done.

I’d say it’s still closer to a 911 than it is a Cayenne.

My ‘84 had one when I bought it, but mine said “944" as opposed to “Porsche”. Mine was also back lit by three small bulbs. I think the first thing I did was remove it and plug the holes.
