Damn.
I have never heard a more quiet theater after a movie.
THERE MAY OR MAY NOT BE SPOILERS IN THE FOLLOWING DISCUSSION.

Here’s my crazy theory. When Thanos snapped his fingers, most of the people that are appearing in later movies disappeared. Which means that we, the viewers, were left in a parallel universe with the characters who actually died (the ones whose contracts are up), while those who disappeared (interestingly, the majority of whom still have more movies to make) are actually in a parallel universe where they lived . Kind of like an M. Night Shyamalan movie where the kid who sees dead people is really the one who is dead.

Remember when Dr. Strange said that there were 14+ million different endings? That means that all of those alternative endings exist in their own parallel universes, so all of the characters are really still alive in their own parallel universe, and Dr. Strange will figure out a way to move between the different realities.
This isn’t entirely my idea. There’s a neat science fiction book titled The Coming of the Quantum Cats by Frederik Pohl that deals with this inter-universal travel.

So.... are we in a time loop then? Where does gravitonium fit into all of this. I must know more.

Was watching it halfway through only for it to be interrupted by a power outage.
Some idiot in a Lancer took out one of the city’s main utility poles.

That’s in line with my working theory, though I don’t think the ones who are still shown on screen as alive are dead. Basically everyone that disappeared is in a parallel universe, and the next movie is going to be a mix of them getting back while the “core” members who are all still left to the viewer go find thanos to kill him, and they’ll die in the fight.
I also think Strange knew this was going to happen and will play a significant part in getting the disappeared ones back. He had viewed millions of scenarios and said one would work. That implies he knew how the fight would play out. Then as he disappeared he told Stark “this was the only way”, which doesn’t sound like something a guy that lost and died would say when he supposedly had seen the one path to victory.
There also HAS to be more to the Hulk thing. I don’t know what yet, but that was too strange to just be a gag.

Lol my last reply came before I saw this. We are very much on the same page. I have not looked for fan theories online yet, but I imagine this is a common one.
I, however, was inspired by Futurama.

With you on the silence at the end.
Apparently, only me and two other people understood the post credits scene, because we were the only ones happy. Everyone else was still depressed.
A lot of people were speculating that either/both Stark and/or Rogers wouldn’t make it to end of the film. Most that I’d read were predicting Rogers, but man, I really thought we were going to see Stark die. Strange really pulled the rug out from under that, and not how I expected.

Stark had to live. Since Dr. Strange saw only one possible scenario where Thanos died, he knew that Stark had to have a role in it. That’s why he traded the stone for Stark’s life.

And he hit thanks in the chest with the axe, then pushed it in further! “I told you you would die for that.”. Man!!
