Well, it could help if you did it the other way and ran from 0 to 1/4 tank. You’d be saving weight, and range anxiety would work in your favour.

His method will actually result in more fuel being used in the long run because of more fuel station visits and thus, more stops and starts and more actual driving.

It’s far more efficient to wait until the tank gets low and fill it right up.
