Wonder what someone did to warrant the sign. It’s also the only sign I’ve seen that is in two languages, and not a language that one would except either.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I’ve read somewhere else that some asian tourists flood bathrooms because theirs are different.

maybe they had issues with people accustomed to Japanese-style shower setups getting water all over the place.

Joining the throng of people with the “tourists from the far east expecting the bathroom to be a self-draining basin”. It’s definitely the expectation for a bathroom in Korea, I know that from personal experience.

Ah that makes sense. I was wondering to myself earlier why the world can’t just use one design for showers.

But Japanese was neither of the languages there.

Funny, the only place I’ve ever stayed where the bathroom and shower were one and the same is in San Sebastian - though I’ve never been to Asia.

My only experiences with bathrooms are in the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, and Russia. They’re similar but different.

Let’s see, I’ve got US, UK, Germany, Austria (day trip only), SK, China (a little over a day). Didn’t notice that much difference between UK and Germany, but both were a little outside US norm.

Yeah it seems like Europe is all about the same. Russia was also like that.

Japanese bathrooms all have a drain on the floor (which makes perfect sense, which is probably why us westerners don’t do it, except in like gas stations). In fact when I visited Japan, one of the bath tubs just drained onto the floor, and underneath the tub was the floor drain.

This basically means people are used to getting water everywhere (somehow???) and not having to deal with it.

I once stayed in a hotel room with a jacuzzi tub that had a sign on the wall to FULLY fill the tub with water before turning on the jets....

A sign that my wife promptly sprayed with water when she turned the jets on before the tub was full.

Live and learn.

The lovely old cottage we rented in Snowdonia during the second part of the Wales Rally Europpomeet came with similar instructions. I found it kind of odd, given the old hardwood floor which makes it kind of self explanatory.

Showers in many Asian countries are like a whole (small) room off the bathroom, with a bathtub on one side, a hand-held nozzle mounted on the wall, and drain in the floor.

This is literally all I could think of when I saw the post. (Maybe not entirely safe for work. Nothing terrible, but the joke may offend some folks with very delicate sensibilities.)

A lot of Chinese bathrooms just have a hand-held shower nozzle on the wall and a drain in the floor, much like the Japanese setup.

Usually it’s still segregated by a door, unless you’re in a really tiny apartment or public housing where the shower is above the toilet.

But I know what you mean, in Japan the open shower model is much more common.
