I always knew the general public was fickle. I never imagined that gear heads would be fickle enough to vote the most unreliable vehicle ever built in the history of mankind that’s been clearly neglected by the current owners (uneven treadwear f/r, needs replacing, paint swirls, etc) a nice price at $4500. Do people forget, or is it wilful ignorance?

Thats the will of NPoCP. 4500? NP. No matter the vehicle. 6000+? CP. All the time. Because there’s always that mouth breather who goes “Durrrrrrrr it’s CP cause I know a guys uncle’s dog’s owner who paid HALF that for one with NEGATIVE MILES so this is CP”

FP is just too far gone in the comment section. The community sucks and whoever’s good either regulates it some or comes here to Oppo or does both.

Sometimes being the guy who makes the bad decision ten years late is a way to be unique, and sometimes that’s worth $4500. Plus which, if it’s not broken right now, it may actually have lucked out in the 10% of good parts in like nine different categories. The paragon of Freelanders... maybe.

I know it’s an infinitesimally small sample size, and purely anecdotal, but I actually enjoyed my Freelander. It never broke down or left me stranded, was a good deal of fun through central Florida’s swampy back roads, and was a great camping vehicle. I’m sure that I was one of the lucky ones, but I honestly have nothing bad to say about it apart from the abysmal fuel mileage.

FP is more Youtube comment section than gearhead, unfortunately.
The fact that a Freelander is on the road is amazing in and of itself, maybe people just voted on unicorn status.

The truth is, for a newer vehicle you don’t get much if your spend less than 5K. Miles were decent, neglected probably but most cars are in that price range. The most unreliable vehicle - I guess. I don’t know the history of it. I’ve heard the battery was undersized but meh. I’ve always liked the Freelander but never been in a position where I wanted and could afford one at the same time.
It’s not unreasonable to think you could nurse the car to 120K and dump it. Getting 40K more out of a sub 5K car is NP to me.

I always wanted a Freelander when they came out.

I saw a freelander on the road the other day and did a doubletake. Couldn’t believe it was still operating under its own power. I felt like this was a low point for LR- I just don’t understand how LR felt it would fit with their lineup and corporate image.
