I need this SD1! I think a V8 cruiser would work nicely as a second car next to the Twingo, right?
Actually, I already messaged the seller with some questions (how long has it been sitting, what’s wrong with it, etc.)

A certain amount of mechanical defect risk, but at that price...

If you buy you we all know what has to be done to it.

The inspection expired in 2013, so it’s been off the road for at least as long. So what could possible go wrong? Having said that, I have full confidence in BvdV being able to judge the condition if/when he sees it in person.

If anything, you can kind of re-enact a music video (someone will get it):

I always liked the SD1, but lately I got into 80s music, and you could say this music video spurred on my search for an SD1
I sort of need a Saab 99 turbo too...

You’re definitely right, but it seems like a good deal. But I definitely need to judge it when I see it. I don’t have the skill, nor tools to do extensive repairs, so as long as it is a solid mechanical base I should be able to save it.

That would be awesome! If only I had that much money laying around...
I think I’ll stick to a Vitesse rear wing and maybe a side exit exhaust initially.

Nice, you got it.
Saab Turbo on Inca wheels, no less.

If I buy it, I’m definitely going to buy a Human League cassette and play ‘Don’t you want me’ while driving !

Wagon conversion?
![]() 04/25/2018 at 13:36 |

Hmm, I like the idea, maybe a more sporty looking wagon conversion?
To be honest, the trunk boot is pretty large as is:
I mean, it’s bigger than the Twingo....
![]() 04/25/2018 at 13:44 |

Yeah, the trunk on these is huuuuge already, so a sportier wagon conversion would mean leaving them as is.

Yeah, changing the rear to have a lower trunk sill (or however you call it in English) would pretty much make it a sporty wagon. Giving it a slightly longer roof and a slightly more upright rear window would create a very Audi 100 Avant like rear.

It’s an 80s Rover, this might be the more appropriate tune:

Would it listen to the lyrics and keep functioning as a way to try not to make me cry, though ?

No, it really wants to hurt you and it runs on gasoline and it’s owner’s tears. That being said, I’d love to have an SD1, even as garage art.

Ah well, tears are cheaper than gasoline :P
