It really depends on who you ask. In some areas it’s gaining ground, but there’s still a large percentage of the sports fan population who don’t watch it.
Most of the soccer fans I know are people who play/have played soccer.

It’s big in Georgia now because we have Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

About 8 years ago the Colorado Rapids won the MLS Cup, and there was barely any coverage of it here that I can remember. And this was in a year where the Broncos were hot garbage. So they still have a long way to go.
