but have you already noticed the lack of over sized US pickups?

That and the fact that they all drive on the wrong side of the road. It’s really hard to cross the road, hard to break the habit of looking left first.

To be fair, your in London, maybe travelling up the M6 around Birmingham and between Liverpool and Manchester, your probably going to see quite a few of them.

Your going to see a lot of BMW 3, 5 and X5 series police cars too.

To be fair if you go near Manchester or Liverpool you’ll come across some American pickups such as Ford F150s and Dodge Rams.

You have to keep that sword hand free to engage thine enemies!

In the US, we just use guns, so we drive on the other side.

Equivalent to purchasing power and taxes, this would be more akin to seeing a Ferrari or Lambo in the US. I’ve heard it said that the “M3 of Europe” (purchasing power parity) is the GTI. Or maybe the M3 is the GTI of America...

All I know is the Brits seem to spend a lot of money on cars.

Depends on point of view.

There is no correct side of the road. There is the right way, and the incorrect way.

Funfact:

The word “sunroof” was originally “gunroof”

In the U.K. we buy more cars, more often than most of Europe.

Yep, it’s so much more culturally woven into daily life there. I don’t mean to generalize too much, but in my several trips over there, I’m always impressed how average ordinary people are (a) generally excellent drivers and (b) knowledgeable about cars.

It’s hard to articulate, but it’s no wonder Top Gear originated there and saw its greatest success as a mainstream show.

The U.K. system is crazy in that new licence plates would comes out the 1st of March and people would scramble to be the first to get the new letter to be seen as having the newest car. It got to a point where a disproportionate number where being registered and collected on or very shortly after that date that the government came out with a two date system of the 1st of March and the 1st of October.

Now it’s a numerical system.

We still have some very idiotic drivers though, more so in the last few years.

Cars are ingrained into our culture of the washing the car on a Sunday.

Did you see ALL the Wagons? Think of any car you can think of in the US, and you’ll see the manual Diesel Wagon version of it in the UK. Saw this very nice E46
