Good morning Oppo...

Kinja'd!!!

Can you imagine if a treaty for the denuclearization of the Korean peninsulaand a long-term peace deal were to be implemented under the Trump presidency?

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Given, Moon is doing the heavy lifting and Trump is likely to make the negotiations more difficult.... but can you imagine if Trump gets a Nobel Peace Prize for solving the Korean conflict? LOL....

If Obama can win a Peace Prize while waging a drone war in Pakistan, Trump can definitely win one while stoking the flames of racial hate within his own country. I say they give the prize to Rodman.

Don’t forget Syria and the middle east, and how little we hear about ISIS any more. It’s almost like the US is making an impact on global relations without just needlessly blowing shit up, or putting US soldiers or foreign civilians at risk......

But but but.... Racism! Bigotry! Marital infidelity! Russian collusion! Betsy Devos! THAT’S NOT HIS REAL HAIR OR SKIN TONE!!!!!!!!

Trump solving LOL. Man, I hate this guy, but I gotta defend him around every corner.

I think 45 just wants to be friends with a tough dictator, as it is a role he admires (given his sweet comments about leaders in China, Russia, Philippines, etc), lack of real sanctions, etc.

*Looks across ocean*

“Ya know, we should probably just take the lead on this ourselves.”

I would object to the idea of trump getting a prize for doing nothing in the name of peace, but that barrier was broken by our last president, so who knows?

The thing that pisses me off the most is all the NeoMcCarthyism going on since he was elected to keep him from doing anything. One of the campaign promises that he hasn’t been able to keep (and was looking good back then), which I considered the only silver lining to his winning (after all, Hillary would have started WWIII by now, because she was a psycho warmonger throughout her history), was that he would work on establishing normalized diplomatic relations with Russia. After all, the Cold War ended almost 30 years ago - we won, the USSR collapsed - but they left behind the world’s largest nuclear stockpile. We need to be on friendly terms with these people if we want there to be a future for our children. Those that oppose this are the worst kind of psychopaths.

Pyongyang is small potatoes, but at least this sounds like it has the potential to be a very positive development for world peace/security. Wouldn’t it be funny if possibly the most offensive president we’ve had solved problems with some of the least friendly nuclear-armed foreign powers?

Can I? Yes. Can I imagine winning the lottery? Yes. Neither are going to happen. While I would support the denuclearization of North Korea, Trump lacks the nuance and soft power necessary to make this happen. His style is my way or the highway and that won’t fly. If his administration does pull it off, I would hope the Nobel Prize committee recognizes who did the actual work.

I don’t have high hopes for any off this.

I don’t believe that it is because Trump has made anything better. He just drowns out that area because of his affairs and Comey and Russian/collusion stuff and.......

It really, REALLY pisses me off that the temper tantrum having sore losers intentionally reignited the cold war with Russia.

THEY TALKED TO EACH OTHER, OMG!!1!1!1 IMPEACH, IMPEACH!!!1!1!1!1

Gee, it’s almost like when Obama said ISIS was contained, they were actually contained...

The Trump administration hasn’t done anything radically different than their predecessors with regards to ISIS. They’ve continued what the Obama administration was doing and it has been effective.

I’m kind of worried about it because of the way I see it playing out.

In years past it was a lot of saber rattling. Trump is/is viewed as somebody unhinged enough to actually do something.

It would be great if it could. We’ll see if they can pull it off. I hope he can, but I’m doubtful.

I will point out that North Korea is generally always willing to negotiate (occasionally they will say no for a few months due to domestic concerns), so getting them to the table is not a big accomplishment in and of itself. If they can actually get North Korea to agree to something (and actually be able to enforce it, the downfall of Bill Clinton’s deal), that would be a major accomplishment.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that if Obama were doing this, the conservatives would be hammering him for being naive, getting played, kowtowing to dictators, etc. I don’t think that would have been true then, and I’m hoping it is not true now, but the difference in enthusiasm for diplomacy is noteworthy.

I would love this for so many reasons. But is it evil to admit mostly for the irony? Next election would be a cluster.

If you listened to an actual news source, you’d hear plenty about Syria, ISIS and even Afghanistan!

It’s hard to actually know what’s going on outside your cul d’sac when all you watch is cable news.

I get most of my news from the West Virginia Journal of Cousin Kissin’ and Critter Shootin’.....

It’s usually pretty on point.
