Inspection is due by end of month, so naturally my car is now throwing a CEL... god damn it. Doesn’t seem to drive weird and it just threw it at lunch. I did notice the inside of my air filter box is wet where some hose connects and runs down into some other thing.. I should have taken a photo.. but i hope it’s nothing major. April is not being a good month for me.

Got an elm32 dongle? If not, now would be a great time to get one. They’re dirt cheap and handy as heck. Got mine on Craigslist for peanuts.
(Make sure your gascap is tight just for kicks... hopefully it’s just an evap code due to a loose cap. Hopefully.)

Sounds like oil blow by, normal as long as it’s a small amount.

Ffirst thing I checked. What’s an elm32 dongle? Check code reader I’m guessing? I need one

Its straight water. I went to valvoline for a quick oil change and I wonder if they didn’t set the air box back on right. I forgot those fucker go ripping all that out.. I hate that they do that..

WalMart carries a reader in their HyperTough brand for $20. From what I can see it’s not what you’d call “full featured” but it will read codes and clear them.

yeah it’s super weird. I wonder if these things have those emissions air pumps on them and if theres water in there. maybe that’s where the hose runs too. the Northstar had issues like this but i never saw water in the air box when mine got flooded.

Em32 dongle is one of those Bluetooth dealios you plug into the obdii port. You can then download Torque on to your phone or tablet and pull codes, reset the light, view live sensor data, etc. Probably better than any cheap stand alone code reader.

Oh, it’s a Northstar? Hopefully it’s not stretching head studs.

first off, that issue was resolved. Secondly, sadly no, it’s 3.5lt V6 2009 Impala. I was just saying my last Seville had water in the emissions pump issue but never caused water in my air box.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Wasn’t sure what car you were referring to or how old it might be, saw Northstar and feared the worst.
Went to look at an older STS a few years ago that apparently had not yet had the replacement studs done despite it’s age. The random multiple cylinder misfires and the 2 extra sets of coilpacks which the owner supposedly couldn’t remember if he had swapped out or not told me everything I needed to know.
Not familiar with the 3.5 at all, but there probably shouldn’t be any water carrying hoses in the airbox, so unless it’s an obvious automotive fluid I’d assume water intrusion after a poorly done reassembly by the shop. Just a guess, of course.
If it were me, I’d make sure it’s put together properly, clear the code with a dongle (or disconnect the battery) and see if it comes back. You also might want to make sure they got all the electrical connectors seated properly, JIC.

Well, I don’t want to make any guesses until you’ve had a chance to pull codes...
As for that hose, it might not even be related. Are you sure it’s not just a drain for water that might find its way that far?
