I found some photos buried in an iPhoto library that I had taken back in 2012. Now that iPhoto has been relegated to the dustbin of history, I’m re-editing some of the originals in Lightroom. Even with an older camera and poorer lens, this one came out pretty darned good, with a little help from Adobe. What I would have given for some clear sky that day.....
BTW, if you open the photo in a new tab, then remove all the bit between the slashes in the URL about scaling, you can see the full-size picture. Here’s a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
Bonus points to anybody who can tell me what is hiding behind the Sabre....

Off topic, but apparently someone we know works at Airbus, after our discussion of A300 flights to DCA yesterday, here’s today’s Airbus throwback Thursday post:

Yes! First and only time I’ve seen them. Unfortunately, most of the aerial shots are just silhouettes against that iron-gray sky.

I saw them at Oshkosh, last year or the year before, I forget which.
I really enjoyed them - a very different show from the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels, as the CT-114 is a heck of a lot slower (and quieter).
The more airshows I see, though, the more I appreciate the slow aircraft doing aerobatics. It gives me a much better appreciation for pilot skill, and it takes great skill to manage momentum. Highlights for me last year at Oshkosh were a guy doing aerobatics in a Bonanza, and another guy flying a Bucker Jungmeister. That last one is incredibly graceful and slow.

Last show I went to there was a guy doing aerobatics in a King Air. That was cool. I really like the Snowbirds show. Very graceful, more artistic. As you say, you have more time to enjoy the formations and the interplay of the aircraft. They’re not flashing by at hundreds of miles per hour. I saw Matt Younkin hooning his Beech 18 at an air show a few years ago. That was super cool.

Nice! Of course, what would really be impressive is doing aerobatics with the engines shut down...

The guy in the King Air did do some stuff with the engines off.

Ah, I was distracted (work, ugh) during part of the video and missed that bit!
