My recommendations:

1. Better steering system, Get rid of steer by wire. It needs to die in Hellfire.

2. Better transmissions. You do whatever you want with the QXYZcrossovers. Make the sedans and coupes get proper performance transmissions and offer more manuals.

3. Better single- screen infotainment. Android-Apple Phone mirroring. Put the damn Nissan system and make it simple.

4. More hybrids across the line. Make ‘em sport-hybrids not Prius hybrids.

Infiniti has absolutely nothing (good) that makes them stand out from the other mid-tier luxury brands. They’re completely invisible. It bugs me because I absolutely love some of their older cars (and modern concepts... Gt-r sedan hnggggg)

realistically, they need to get a GTR drive drain in them, and make a proper performance division.

“Better single- screen infotainment. Android-Apple Phone mirroring. Put the damn Nissan system and make it simple.”

This is the most important thing and I think they missed it.

To me the list would be:

1. Better infotainment
2. An improved digital steer system (they current system sucks but they need a technology showcase to prove they’re a big boy now)
3. quickly change the Q70
4. release the Eau Rouge, like two years ago
5. I guess better transmissions?

They do need to go back to the steering the G37s had. That was really good and I don’t know why they thought they needed the drive by wire stuff. I did see somewhere that they were going to offer Car Play and Android Auto soon.

They do make some excellent concepts but when it comes to reality sadly it’s a different story.

The steering was probably my favorite thing about driving my wife’s G37 (RIP) so of course that’s what they screwed up.

Unfortunately I don’t see much hope for Infiniti. Look at Nissan. Barring the r35 Gt-r (which could possibly be the strongest performing halo car of all time), when is the last time Nissan has done anything interesting, or even competitive..? They’re like a 65% Toyota but priced comparatively

Get rid of the steer by wire, re-employ the CD00x 6MT in the Q50s and Q60s, and go back to the immensely popular strategy of “let’s just stick the big motor in everything.” Crap infotainment can definitely be excused if you’re getting a 400 horsepower sports sedan for $37k.

The Leaf is a very good product, and the fact that I had to bring up the Leaf as a response does prove your point LOL. Also, what they’ve done, or rather not done with the 370Z is criminal neglect.

1. Nothing wrong with electric steering... provided it’s set up right. Like most things. Admittedly it appears harder to get right than hydraulic... better advice would be sink some money into it, it’s the future and it’s not going away.

2. Yes.

3. Meh, I don’t care. KISS principal definitely applies but I really don’t care as long as there’s some kind of interface for me to do stuff. I don’t need a ton of toys... and I find built in nav systems to be all but useless anyways. Besides, I like maps.

4. YES. Well, specifically to the sport hybrids part. Specifically, do what I’ve been scratching my head over companies not doing for years—hook up a motor to the wheels that aren’t normally receiving power and make the hybrid system your AWD option.

But mostly IDGAF applies between me and Infiniti

I agree with everything but wanted to clarify that 1. is not about electric steering per se as a lot new performance cars have very good electric steering and I like them but specifically Infiniti’s cursed numb AF Steer-By-Wire DAS system.

Make only SUVs or Performance cars. Period. No 2.0T base model BS. Become the Japanese AMG. Infiniti is going to be one of the worst hit brands once the Koreans really roll in with their onslaught. I would get a Genesis G70 over a Q50 any day.

I don’t really think the steering feel issue matters that much to sales success. Most people who buy new in this segment are buying a sporty looking luxury car and are mostly not driving enthusiasts.

I think the biggies are interior materials, features (like the infotainment), and the transmission. A bad transmission will be noticed by most drivers, I think, enthusiast or not.

They used to have an identity of being the fun Japanese luxury car brand while still offering solid value and reliability. Now they are just bland cars with no soul. Granted the Q60 is attractive, the interior is awful, as is that steering system.
