The prancing moose stickers and novelty items had been on the market for a long time now. Volvo Cars decides to send a cease and desist to the seller/maker. I don’t know if someone pissed in Volvo’s Cheerios for them to act on this after many years on the market.

Wow, I know Nissan is bad about shutting down anyone who dares to sell a Nismo sticker on eBay.
Seems like a waste of time, time that could of been devoted to making a more durable CVT. I wouldn’t even waste an unpaid legal intern’s time on such nonsense.

Well, that’s one way to alienate consumers.

I wonder if Volvo corporate got a phone call from the Ferrari folks “asking” them to squash it.

This is just the Chinese ownership dabbling in trademark law. It’s their first time.

Pretty dumb of Volvo. Could’ve made some awesome PR out of this, but instead they piss off some of their most rabid fans. He’ll just keep selling them without the “VOLVO”.

The dude is still selling stickers and other items with the Volvo livery (the wordmark) removed, so he’s not completely SOL. But yeah, dick move on Volvo’s part.

That’s sad.
Good news is, you can still get ones that don’t say “VOLVO”. Even better, buy the “LOLVO” ones instead. http://www.prancingmoose.com/VolvoPrancingMoose.html

Seems easy enough to ditch the VOLVO from the sticker.

Not sure if Dave Barton credits himself with the idea, or the article is mistaken, but...
