Is what a company I used to work for said. That doesn’t mean we did anything that made sense in metric though. We still used standard hardware and designed everything in inches and feet. The only thing metric was converting everything to metric on the drawings. So we had bolts that were 12.7mm and parts with a 25.4mm hole etc etc, but hey we were a metric company

Kinja'd!!!

Bonus game: what do these three things have in common?

They all got screwed, either by a wrench, a younger competitor, or lack of marketing?

My arbitrary way of counting is better than your arbitrary way of counting.

They are all different things made by a man or woman (and I one case one of each)

You know what pisses me off, BSPT vs NPT. Granted I’ve only encountered one machine that uses bspt and it’s Italian. What pisses me off though is the the thread shape between the two is identical, but the British has one more thread per inch. Why?!

How long did that take to figure out? I feel like I’d keep trying it and wonder why it’s not quite working and just get more and more pissed

Not too long. It’s pretty clear something’s fuck. Had an old fitting from the machine to use a thread gauge on though. If I only had the thread machined into the coolant lines it probably would have been a while.

Ah, but do you use US survey inches or international inches? That’s a very important distinction: precisely two parts in a million.
