If I can go by my driving experience of my SLK 230k I can tell you it’s not a trackable car, but the soft top chrysler might be better due to being lighter.

I’ve never driven one. I thought they had a good look, like they’d be pretty nimble... Of course, I test drove a Z3M expecting it to be the greatest thing ever and my expectations were very seriously underwhelmed. (I have no idea why they put an M badge on that thing.)

Well, mine has visual flex, understeers quite a lot, and is too softly sprung to be a real contender. Also my grandfather bought it as an automatic way back in 1997 and that SUCKS.

The engine is charming though,I’m dissapointed about the redline but that’s probably fixable.

The thing about convertibles is that they suck a lot when it comes to structural integrity, I’m sure that if you found a way to cage that crossfire, liven up the engine and change suspension tuning you could find a trackable car. Afterall it’s not insultingly bad, it’s just not meant to be a high performance car, it’s meant to be a cruiser.

Aye. Welding the four point rollover stuff to the frame into the Convertible Corvette turned the thing into a handling machine, but it never had anyting near visible flex — that’s nuts. Pretty sure trying to get a cage into that is do-able but I regret buying the Convertible C4 despite the low price I paid for it because of that project.

Same with the Z3M with the soft springs btw. It’s comfy but rolls around like a drunk if you push it at all.

That’s why the M coupes are so valuable;they handle like a RWD two door sport’s car should!

Yes, my rear view mirror rattles so much I can’t see what’s on it with the roof down (with the roof up it’s more rigid)

Crossfire’s have stiffer suspension and wider tires, Crossfire coupes have stiffer bodies. Themanwiththesauce thinks they are stupidly stiff. Just FYI.

Holy shit.

The Corvette’s rear view constantly sags while I drive. It’s been annoying. I never considered why — I just figured “well its old” but you just answered a question I hadn’t even asked. That’s why it sags.

to be fair, the SLK is 20 years old, but it does have less than 35,000km.

My grandparents also maintain it religiously.

Wait.

is this SLK the best kept, lowest milage SLK of it’s series and also automatic? Shame it’s not a supra; that makes it worthless.
