Even managed to get a pic with the ISF and ToddinTN’s LS430! It’s getting some surgery.
I’m glad my dad drove it in.

I’ve removed drawer pulls on a garage workbench in order to fit a car before...

That’s impressive.

The ISF is 13" shorter. I really took the wrong car to the shop for easy parking.

I can’t even come up with a gif that says how awesome that parking job is. This is truly a bravo moment.

You could fit two Fiats in there.

Or 3 micro cars. Funny enough the 500 is only 3.5' shorter than the ISF. The 500 is also apparently shorter than a max size Kei car.

Fortunately that’s supposed to miss me this round.

I’m glad the wife was working tonight. She parks in the garage at her work.

Well. Stay safe in case it gets really bad. Also, did whoever parked the LS have a spotter

Haha yeah. My dad is stubborn and will do whatever it takes haha. I spotted him, barely.

Stay safe, I envy this garage so hard, I can even find use for the Odyssey.

I really need a second car space and it’s very tight. Hopefully when the cabinets all go in I can get some tennis balls up and make it all work

I did not think there was any way it would fit. I took the 13" shorter ISF to my parents hop for safekeeping. Whoops.

What’s that nice 202 (or is a 210) doing in your dad’s shop? Must be a good customer of your dad’s who happens to own one German car.

That’s a LS430 on the rack, Odyssey in the 2nd row, and Honda Civic in the back. He will work on German cars for some customers. Mostly the ones that drop off the car, pick it up, and have the credit card on file and a “do not call other than to tell me it’s done so I can pick it up. Just fix it” order in the computer.

Do they just drop the car off and say fix it, or do they call him first and ask him if he can fix it, or wants to? My experience has been, with both Japenese specialists and Germans is that either one wants to double check first. My last experience, though, was with an idiot boss and asked me if I can work on Hondas, which I found dumb because I can work on everything. Cars are cars, the only time specializing comes in handy is knowing common problems or quirks.

Most of the customers that are on the drop off and go are usually quite wealthy and will be traveling for a week after they drop off the car anyways. Most people call and get told 1-2 days out

Also the big thing with servicing different brands is the diag and programming tools. Having the right one makes he jobs so much easier Sauer.

The last one I used is the Matco Maxys Pro thingy, I think it’s Autel or something. All I know is Mac and Matco sell the exact same thing. I really like that tool because it does a shit ton of stuff on every brand. I was even able to do coding on VW’s. It was slow and cumbersome, so I would still use my Ross-Tech cable, but it was nice.
And I know I shouldn’t let it bother me, but I would get slightly offended when customers asked me if I could work on their Toyota or Honda. I would get it they asked if I wanted to, but I got butthurt when they asked if I could .

I think a lot of people don’t realize each car is very similar. Even I ask people if they know how to work on a car because there are some minute details that make a job so much different from another depending on the car

Yeah, that’s true, but it’s usually on bigger jobs, like say a timing belt job. On a bigger job, I will always check the repair manual first to check for what special tools are needed if any. This is most important on German cars. I have one of my side lockers now full of special tools for German cars, and it’s only a small portion of all the tools there are.
