Selling my 1979 Triumph Spitfire on Craigslist. Since moving back down south it just is no longer safe to drive since highway is required to get anywhere. Also looking to replace with a fishing truck and/or a sweet 944 for sale locally.

Here is the listing if anyone is interested, could make a better Oppo deal.

Was sad you were gonna sell this until I saw the hunt for a 944 instead. I wonder which one is cheaper to run long term...

The 944 is probably more expensive but likely to actually run more.

Definitely the Triumph, rear OEM shocks are $20/ea. Mechanically they are stupid simple and very resilient but 70mph at 4000rpms in a car smaller than my wife’s MINI will start the adrenaline pump going feeling like you are cheating death.

Damn... I’m in NoVa and this would be awesome to drive around local back roads.

From experience, YMMV.

I’d be so bold to say a regular 2.0l 924 would be closest to a Spitfire in terms of cost to run. The cheap VW parts all over the car (engine, suspension, some electrics) and the low hp but light weight make for a joyful experience. But 944s are slightly more expensive fun, especially the later (85.5-up) models.
