Like so many others, I’ve taken advantage of the pleasant weather recently to get some spring cleaning done. And by that, I meant getting rid of all the pollen that was starting to pile up on the C5. Gave it a good wash, a fresh coat of wax, followed by vacuuming and detailing the interior. Came out so well, I felt compelled to go out and take a few pictures.

I usually don’t like blacked out cars but your C5 is great!

To be honest, it was never really my thing either. But it just feels right with this car.

I chuckle at people that replace their C5 pop-ups with fixed beam lights.
It just doesn’t look right to me at all.

It looks great with black rims and tints and all sorts of blacked out magic.
Mine is dark metallic blue
I am going to plastidip my rims to be black. We’ll see how it turns out. I also need tints. So much work to do.

Haha, it’s how I bought the car. I keep going back and forth about taking them off. But I just can’t make up my mind. On the one hand, blackout lights have never been my bag, but on the other hand, I genuinely don’t dislike them on this car.

I actually like it on this C5. Just as long as you don’t do the headlights or add taillight louvers

I love having the dark tint except when I’m driving during the day with the targa top off. So much light pours in from above, that it’s almost difficult to see out the rear window. Not really a huge issue, as most cars have DRL’s that make them much easier to spot, and I thoroughly utilize my side mirrors and turn my head to peek before changing lanes.

That targa top roof..... man. I hate it. Its all scuffed up. In the summer its hotter than molten rock. Can’t see through it. I might plastidip it also so I dont have to look at it.
But yeah. Driving with tints is hard sometimes.

I replaced mine, but it was because a) the gears were stripping out and b) night racing. But I did the super low profile ones.

Very nice, I just washed the M2 today and she’s looking very nice. I had a nice coat of pollen as well and decided to clean it. It’s kind of shitty out and overcast but if it clears up I’ll take some pictures.

Send that pleasant weather east and stop hogging it all! Currently 41° when it should be 58°. This weather blows.

That sucks. We’re currently going through mid 70's during the day and low 50's at night. Perfect roof off, windows down weather!

When I lived in Florida, spring was very hit or miss. It would go from winter to summer really quickly. In northern California though, I love it!

Thankfully, I have both the clear (tinted) roof, and the solid black OEM unit. Once it gets up into the 80's every day, I’ll switch to the opaque one, to try and get less of a greenhouse effect going on inside.

Thats the one I have - the only one... it gets so friggin hot. Sun gets through and heats up insides like a microwave with plutonium
Only way to leave it in the sun is with the top off.

We may see spring for a day, possibly a week sometime in late May or early June. Right now we are getting the second half of our 4" snow addition.

I know you can buy opaque replacement panels, but they are somewhere around $1,000 for a proper quality one. Might be worth your while to keep on the lookout on forums or eBay for used ones.

I’m in the Sacramento area. Far enough inland that we get hot and dry summers (it can hit 105+ every day for 10 or more days straight), and just pray that the delta breeze makes it all the way to us.
On the plus side though, our winters are great compared to most locales. Usually rainy, but rarely cold enough for snow or ice.

I did just put in an order for one of California’s “Legacy” plates. Black with yellow lettering. Should be much better than the standard white with red and blue.
I was initially worried about running without a front plate though, after all, it is the law. But of all the Corvettes I see, maybe 1 out of 8 actually has a front plate affixed to the car.

You should definitely do so. Let me know, and I’ll take you to one of our local Cars and Coffee meets. I think they actually have one up in Grass Valley.

I have seen those legacy plates, really nice. I HATE, HATE, HATE US front plates with a burning passion. Front Euro Plates look good on certain cars, though.

For sure. On something like a boxy Volvo, a Euro front plate looks right at home. I’ll never be a fan of front plates of any sort on a Corvette though. The front end just does not lend itself to having that section of bumper missing.

I pay extra in my state for the special plate where you only need a rear one.

I would gladly pay for that. Don’t think it’s an option in California though, so I’ll just have to keep taking my chances.
