To no one’s surprise, they’re “declining assistance” on my seat problem.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It’s normal wear and tear for a 2-year-old car to have a peeling seat? They’re on the verge of losing a valuable customer. They don’t have that many sales in the first place and they have very few loyal customers like me. I’ve had 3 Mazdas in a row for God’s sake.
Most people ignore Mazda as they go directly to the Honda or Toyota store out of habit. If they don’t want to lose a repeat customer, they’ll make this right.
I told the service advisor that I’m contacting Mazda North America directly. We’ll see what happens.

Definitely use the fact that you’re a repeat customer as leverage. This is the company that gave a guy a new ND Miata after his was total just off the lot.

Not surprising. Take it up with Mazda NA and keep pestering people until someone caves. I’m starting to prepare my body to do the same with Audi NA if the local dealer tells me the same thing again on an issue I’m having.

Always remember to say your seats are defective. How much time is left on your warranty?
From Mazda:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The New-Vehicle Limited Warranty period for defects in materials and workmanship in all parts supplied by Mazda 2 is 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This transferable limited warranty is included on all new Mazda vehicles sold and serviced in the United States.
I hope they help you. I am not good at fighting crap like this. If all else fails I would get some Steve approved CST Leather. “The wrinkles fall out with time.” Then send Mazda the bill and the old seat covers.

Bought the car October 10, 2015 with 6 miles. It currently has just shy of 26,000 miles. So, my warranty is good until October 10, 2018. This seems to be an issue with cheap material on Mazdas part, unfortunately. And instead of owning up to that, they’re blaming me.

Yeah - famed Audi reliability, lol. Not a yuuuuuge issue, but at speeds between 70-75 I get a pretty solid harmonic vibration sounding like it’s coming from the left front. I can hear it and feel it through the dead pedal. At the 35k service, the manager said the tech thought it was tires, except I have two sets of wheels/tires (different brands of both wheels and tires too) and it makes the same noise with both. He said when it gets warmer to slap my summer set on and come back in to prove it to the tech, so hopefully that’ll get them to spend more time on it. Otherwise, Audi NA will feel my wrath.

Hmm, sounds like it could be the hub assembly since you said it exhibits the same behavior with the other wheel/tire setup. Possibly slightly out of balance, but I wouldn’t suspect much else. Hope they figure it out! When is the warranty until?

I thought out of balance and tires until I rotated the stock set and then also swapped on my summer set, and the noise doesn’t follow any particular wheel. I’m thinking something in the hub assembly as well. My initial thought was wheel bearing, but the car seems wayyy too new for that.
It’s under warranty until May 2019 or 50k miles.

I’d be surprised as well, you can try and test it by seeing if it makes more noise under load like a long-sweeping right turn. Inversely, if you don’t hear it at all during left turns then you know it is something on the driver side of the car.

I have tried to test this! Hard to do at the high speeds where it occurs, but there is a nice sweeping onramp leaving work. It’s a right-hander and I can get the car to 70-75 without pushing it (so it’s more like cruising on the highway), but you still get the G-forces on the left front. When that happens, no noise, but as soon as I straighten out on the highway and merge, it starts the rhythmic humming again.
EDIT - I realize this makes it sound like right front hub instead of left.

Very strange, that would indicate to me something is up with the FR and not FL. Diagnosing this stuff is such a pain but it definitely sounds like a hub issue.

That’s weird. Do you sweat a lot? It looks like something is reacting with material.

I do, at times. I have hyperhydrosis. But, both times, the problem occurred in the cold winter months when my sweating isn’t an issue. And of course, there are multiple layers of clothing between me and the seat.
