S2000 seats were my original dream seat for the Miata. In this condition the price is a steal... What do you think? I’m thinking I could modify them to work with harnesses pretty easily. Just gotta cut holes in the right places and use some kind of grommet to make it look “finished”

I need to find a seat deal like that.

Looks nice and you can get them upholstered in Alcantara if you’d like less slide.

Does this mean you’ll hit VTEC in the Miata now?

That’s an idea. Although the dirt and sand I get into on forest service roads absolutely trashes my other Alcantara surfaces... Maybe a nice wool?
I feel like an auto upholstery shop would look at me like I was crazy if I asked for that....

Means my manifold may be in danger

I hear ya. My other choices are Lotus seats ($2000 a pair, used), super rare Jdm Mazdaspeed buckets at the same price or a very small selection of buckets that’s will fit inside, again for at least $2k. Trying to avoid replicas this time

Scotchgard the shit out of Alcantara.

Have you looked at RSX seats? Very similar with more comfortable bolsters in my experience.

Do it, the project must live on.

Dude yeah I would jump on those for sure. Maybe a bit too blue for your car as is though haha. Been looking to get new seats too actually. Do the s2000 seats fit with some sort of frame rail adapter? I was looking for elise seats or maybe just a good black aftermarket bucket.

Whatever gets you back on the road!

These seats use to total S2000's. One of the most common stolen seats, be wary.

Do you plan to use harnesses in the Miata? It looks like you have a harness bar. If yes, you might want seats that accommodate the shoulder straps.

Yeah, harness-only at this point. If you do get the S2k seats I’ll be shoulder and sub holes to get a proper harness fitment. The lap belt at least shouldn’t require any modification.
I’m thinking I’ll pick these up and worst case scenario resell for a small profit if I don’t think I can get them to work in the Miata

In this condition I could trade for someone’s red set pretty easily I think... Blue is one of the more rare seat colors.
No, I’ve seen one Miata with S2k seats (looked great) but they are a bit big. I’m guessing I’ll have to chop out the floor pan and weld in a flat piece so I can get the seats lower. I’ll let you know how they work!

I’m worried about the size. I’ve actually never sat in either, but I’m taking a guess here that the S2k seats would be smaller coming out of a roadster...

Ah damn I’ve never attempted welding. And yeah for sure good luck.

They might have a flatter or lower profile bottom, but given people swap them into RSX’s and vice versa I think they would be comparable.

At that price, I’d say the odds are very favorable that they were stolen.
But hey, great price!

Yeah, I was under the impression that all S2000 seats were stolen.

It’s a fairly safe bet, I’d say.
Now, it’s been a number of years since I owned one, but I remember there were regular group buys that someone hosted for bolts that required a key (much like locking lug nuts).
It is a huge problem, not just because of the seats, but because thieves would usually just slash and mangle the convertible tops to get at the seats. Those tops are not cheap to replace.
