This was easily the largest turnout I had ever seen at a KC area C&C. They’ve been steadily growing more popular with each passing event and this happened to be the first one of the year with reasonable weather. People must have seriously had an itch to finally get back to these gatherings because they were limiting entry and sending most cars off into the grass/gravel not even 5 minutes after it was scheduled to start. Thankfully, the Exocet got me waved inside with not much room to spare.
The trip there turned out to be a bit of an event in and of itself as well. Stonegate Motorplaza is a small / still developing “garage condo” + track facility just past the outskirts of the KC metro area, so just about everybody is coming from the same direction at a certain point. This funneling of attendees resulted in everything from friendly honks/waves/pictures to impromptu groups of cars traveling together at unreasonable speeds. I’m not sure if the Mini below was one of the later, but someone’s luck ran out along the way while exiting the nearby highway.
The visibility of the adjacent underpass isn’t great and the driver was able to walk away from the accident just fine but still... These sorts of growing pains, including exit burnouts/launches are occurring more frequently, so hopefully the organizers can help tamp down on it before a more serious incident occurs or we lose a venue. Now that I’ve sufficiently ruined the mood, here’s all the fun stuff:
First McLaren I’ve seen in person. I like it.
Some parts of a sharp-looking Bel Air restomod. Not sure why I didn’t take more pictures.
I couldn’t decide which one was more hulk-like.
You’d think the AMG GT would be the easy answer here, but upon closer inspection...
El Caminos have always been one of my automotive guilty pleasures.
I don’t care how overdone it might be, I still find great deal of amusement in the prancing moose.
The KC region SCCA was present to scout out one of the fields on the property for rallycross. I knew one of our regular chairs/chiefs had a Cavalier fetish, but I didn’t realize it went this far. Think it’s time for an intervention?

Usually my Exocet gets the most people asking what it is. Today though, this had it Beat.
I still dig all of the smooth shapes of the later 300ZX.
That said, I’d much rather have one of these.
I’m not a big fan of the color choice here, but I’ll be damned if this isn’t one of the cleanest builds I’ve seen in a long time.
Drag truck? Drag truck.
Hmm, an MR-S with the engine bay open? Rotate image and enhance!
Oh my. I’ll be in my bunk.
Speaking of Lotus...
A refreshingly insane change of pace from the usual sea of lightly breathed upon muscle cars.
These look better in white than I had expected. Also, Enkei RPF1 all the things.
Same goes for this one, minus the Enkei bit.
I Spent some time chatting with the owner of this Atom. Not only did he convince the state to give him a VIN for this track-only version of the car, but that turbo K20 is apparently good for about 460 HP. It’s also about 100 lbs lighter than my Exocet.
Some late 80s goodness.
While we’re on the subject of late 80s Ferraris...
This Superlite was easily one of the biggest crowd magnets here.
In the words of my husband, this Z8 looked “classy as fuck.” I kinda have to agree, especially in black.
Day 15: I have earned the Moose’s trust. They still do not realize I am horse.
This Noble didn’t draw quite the crowd as the Superlite did, but it’s every bit the looker IMO, and probably a little easier to live with.
I can’t speak to the authenticity of this Superbird, but sure it looks every bit the part.
Beep beep.
Short of an Icon build, this was easily the best-looking Bronco I had seen to date.
The Jeep crowd was more than happy to save us some room on the pavement. They got to do Jeep Things™, we got to not understand and keep our own cars clean. I’d call that a win-win.
Well, mostly. I think I have it in me to give this one a pass though.
And last but not least, a pair of less common classics that I unfortunately didn’t get around to investigating before before they departed.

Neat, I usually try to go out for the first one, but last I heard it was ~April 30th. Oh well couldn’t go anyways, besides who knows if winter will be done by then lol

There’s a really nice 442 that occasionally shows up to these, but it wasn’t present this time.

Great pictures. Any idea what engine was in that Superlight? There is one around me with a BMW V10 in it, thing is sick.

I had to go back and zoom in to one my pictures from a previous C&C to try and remember since I don’t think he’s opened it up for us yet, but it appears the answer here is LS.

Nice pictures!
Is a 1960 Bel Air really a rare sight? You don’t really see them here in Europe for obvious reason, but I thought they were more common on your side of the pond

Thanks, and I wouldn’t say rare, but definitely uncommon to see one on the road around here. I usually go at least a month or two between sightings. They’re a lot more ubiquitous at car shows though.
