The finish. Not only did they polish aluminum, but they BRUSHED THE ALUMINUM TO MAKE RACING STRIPES
I think I may have found the best cobra finish.

I’m overly inclined to agree.

This car was on display at BJ a few years ago. It was my daughter’s favorite. I’m thinking of doing something similar with my motorcycle tank.

It looks awesome but I probably would have reversed the brushed and polished finishes so that the entire car isn’t blinding in sunlight.

Oooooh - thanks for reminding me about these; I used to salivate over their 289 Daytona. If I remember correctly, they’re manufactured in an old MiG-factory in Poland!

IIRC the “stripes” are sanded into the body by hand using sandpaper ran in a single direction so the scratch marks run the same direction.

This one is something special as well. Polished aluminum FTW!

Hot Rod mag featured this car and it’s copper twin a few years ago. They are impressive.
It apparently starts to tarnish within minutes. The copper has a very high purity.

That’s what we call a “design flaw”. at least they can clear coat each panel separately.

I remember seeing that one and its copper brother in Hot Rod Magazine. The Shelby museum/shop in Las Vegas has/had a polished Cobra as well.
Here’s the downside of this finish...it shows ALL THE FLAWS. Closed the door too hard? You’ll see the minuscule deformation in the body around the door. Accidentally placed your hand on the body trying to get out of the car? You’ll see where your hand went. And to fix it means having to polish the car to return it to a mirror-like finish...and you have to polish the WHOLE car because it’ll look off otherwise. I forget the exact amount but it’s between 30 to 40 man-hours to fix any blemishes on the display Cobra from dent repair to final polish.

Well bang goes that dream.

The answer is to buy a carbon fiber (or fiberglass) Cobra and have it wrapped in chrome vinyl. 100% of the looks, 0% of the headaches!

wonder what the maintenance on that is like.

They need to let the copper one tarnish to a nice verdigris:
