In just seconds
Is Elon Musk an asshole? Probably. Most CEOs have that reputation.

I was never an avid Gawker reader, so I don’t know much about Nolan. He seems to pop up every once in a while on Jalopnik, though. I don’t think I’ve read anything of his that was particularly interesting or worth taking seriously. Is he like a professional troll or something?

He writes two types of posts for splinter. It’s either about unions being the best thing ever or how rich people are evil.
I agree that there are a lot of people that don’t pay enough taxes. That’s about where our agreements end.
People that have money aren’t automatically evil assholes. Unions don’t solve everything. I ignore him as much as possible but I can’t recall him ever writing anything about unions when they’re busted for corruption.

The whole 99% movement seems to have a lot of sour grapes in it, especially when I consider that most of the protesters would jump at the chance to be in the 1% if they could.

Eh. It depends. Elon’s “not a flamethrower” stuff I found funny. The comments section was hilarious. People getting bent out of shape because they failed to bother reading or watching the videos thinking it was a Vietnam style napalm shooter. The others freaking out because it was gun-ish shaped.

Someone that truly cares about making society more equal doesn’t complain about the rich people and actively ignores unions.
I’m a man of unions; I think they’re necessary. Yet there needs to be a balance because there is such a thing as a far too powerful union. Like the SNTE here that steals most of the money from public education.

As a small business owner I know that you have to do things that can be considered jerk moves. Sometimes I have to play the asshole card. Comes with the territory.

Unions have their place. But, they’re special interest groups. Once they reach a certain level of money and power they all turn out the same.
My specific complaint with HamNo is his garbage writing. He’s a two trick pony. Everything he writes falls into two categories: unions will solve everything (they won’t) and rich people are all assholes (they’re not).

He is the whiniest writer in the whole gawker stratosphere. Basically anyone who has money = bad. I can’t stand the guy it bothers me that he has a platform to share his useless opinions.

Absolutely. Back during the occupy movement I guarantee if you offered any one of them enough money (probably as low as $100k) to quit they would. And then they’d complain about all the freeloaders.
Income inequality is a very real issue but writing the same garbage everyday won’t solve anything.

Does Univision have a writer’s union? I’d doubt it....
What is being rich? One would have to be quite wealthy to live in New York....

No. He read a book on Che Guevara and unions once. Ever since he’s become that guy at parties that saw a documentary on Netflix and won’t shut up about it.

They do. They unionized when it was still gawker. I think the base salary is $60-65k or something along those lines

For what’s basically blogging it’s not bad.
Even here in oppo some users have beaten Jalopnik to car news and splinter/Th Slot to political news.... So it’s not like they’re day and night working.
Some users here pour their heart out when talking about very tough things, I saw an article about ethinsity and car culture and it was pretty good, tought to read but really good.
We get paid 0, some paid bloggers get 60-65k!

Elon musk is pillaging tesla despite a huge chance of it going bankrupt.
Sounds about right to me. wonder if his investors will hold him liable.

Certainly not a bad gig. I wouldn’t pay him that. I would expect more out of any employee than the same two posts over and over.

Unions are great when they work right but are susceptible to the same sort of corruption that governments and businesses fall prey to.

Nothing is absolute; there should always be a balance of worker/employer. However it’s undeniable that throughout history most of the abuses have been by the employer. Powerful, bulletproof unions are very much a 21st century problem

We take unions very seriously in my workplace, specially the builder’s unions, in some cases they’re better paid than some teachers!
Plus union bosses have extorted us, if a machine needs renting the union will “rent it” to us, so will they “sell” us the diesel for the machines at an exorbitant price.
Union bosses here are horrible people that get paid millions of pesos a year; they’re the richest of the rich.

Too bad you didn’t bother to read it, that post was about Musk’s labor policy. I guess in your dreams you always think you’re the billionaire CEO, never the paid-by-the-hour employee; and in real life you do your best not to think about it at all.

Nope. Happens in tons of companies. CEOs can destroy a company and walk away with even more money
