More proof that mid engine car is not it a ‘Vette. At least if all the rumors of it being a TT DOHC V8 are true that is..

GM to Cadillac: “We own you!”

I would actually like to see it that way. TT V8 mid engine as the Cadillac halo car to race and compete with the Ford GT.

I don’t want it to be as hard core. But more Or less something like that.

Cadillac to Corvette: You’re not getting our twin-turbo V8 engine
Corvette to Cadillac: Fucking whoopee. How are those Northstar engines doing these days?

I don’t think GM (or anyone except maybe Ferrari) will ever come out with a road car as hard core as the Ford GT.

Obviously, because the mid-engine C8 is a Cadillac.

Hey I like pushrod engines as much as the next guy, but frankly, I don’t find the idea of an OHC ’Vette to be nearly as much of a threat to the Corvette’s identity as turning it into a rear-mid -engined car.
I mean, by all means, build the car. Just don’t call it a “Corvette”.

I think corvette gave no shits.... The longer thet can drag along that twisted old push rod design the more fanatical the owners will be

Not really. It’s only evidence that De Nysschen’s plans to diverge caddy’s power plants from the rest of GM are moving along without impediment from GM corporate. It’s not indicative of GMs plans for whatever replaces the LT1, but given that the new Caddy V8 is a ‘hot V’and the leaked mid engine vehicle designs feature a ‘cold V’ design, we can say with some certainty that GMs mid engine prototype will not be cadillac powered. If it’s not cadillac powered, it’s not a Cadillac.

Not necessarily that twin-turbo DOHC V8.
I thought the rumors were always that it was going to be a DOHC variant of the Gen 5 SBC, or something in that displacement range at least? This is smaller.

Came here to say this. The twin turbo V8 in the leaked images was not the same engine. It has not been proven one way or the other that the mid-engine C8 is a Caddy.

You mean the “old design” that kicks the crap put of, well, everything? Huh....

Is it bad? No. The LS has been a wonderful platform. But is it advanced? Heck no!

I would say that it is probably one of the most advanced platforms in existence.

It’s sort of modular, its pushrod.... Sure... Some are aluminium but... None of that tech is unheardof. I think the Coyote is far better. Even the JLR v6/v8 is quite interesting (if unreliable at times)
What the LS does great is customization, I will concede that.
I think the most advanced platform is probably the VWAG EA family of 4 pots.

The LSx is one of the most advanced engines in existence. It makes ungodly power, while being reliable. It have all the tricks, direct injection, cylinder deactivation, etc. One top of that, it’s realiable, uses exotic materials developed just for it, and is massively more compact than the Coyote. The mere fact that it is a pushrod engine and is as powerful and incredibly efficient as it is, better than the Coyote could hope to be, should be enough to convince you.
Claiming that it isn’t advanced is neglecting all the work that has gone into making a proven technology better and better. Just because it doesn’t need to add what you think of as advanced, like extra cams, or variable compression, does not in any way detract from the fact that it gets the job done as an engine, in many ways better than the newer “advanced technology” by advancing a very good way to do that job.

I have nothing against the LS; its a good engine. Now lets see how it levels up to Cadillac’s engine.

It won’t be a Cadillac, and the mid-engined Corvette will not use the Cadillac V8, and it will use a DOHC, twin turbo V8.
Not a Cadillac: There’s been too many design and CAD leaks showing exterior body panel styling characteristic of current C7 styling.
Not the Cadillac V8: The CAD leaks clearly show a conventional cold vee, DOHC, twin turbocharged, intercooled V8.
Do I think we’ll still see a Cadillac reminiscent of the Cien built on this platform? Yes.

I would like to take this opportunity to point out that they didn’t go with turbos on the 1990 ZR-1 because they considered turbos to be too low-tech. Now look at us.
“Advanced” is subjective. And given that DOHC is actually older than OHV technologically, I wouldn’t say there is anything inherently “advanced” about DOHC alone.
