Anybody have any experience with ATI !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?

I’m looking into a new AR15 platform gun and they seem to offer a decent assortment of those. Specifically the one I linked.

Also here’s another bargain ($399) AR platform gun by them:

I’m gonna go watch that right now, haha. AR15s and Tacomas, perfect.

Polymer?

I admit it’s okay on a pistol, but I would have some reservations with a rifle. However, that is the cheapest new AR-15 platform firearm I’ve ever seen, but not by that huge a margin.

Regardless, you do you, because I really don’t know.

I’m kinda skeptical about that as well. I’ve heard it works pretty well though, but I don’t believe they’ve been around that long with polymer components.

I’d love to just look at one. Is there anywhere locally that carries them that would let you handle/dismantle one?

Also: The AR-15 drought is real. I’ve never seen prices this high and selection so limited. I remember when you could readily buy name brand ones for 600 and top of the line big name ones in the 1500-ish range.

People are buying them up really fast. There seems to be a pretty high demand right now.

I looked at a few Anderson Manufacturing variants the other day, they seem pretty solid. Bear Creek Arsenal and ATI are two companies I’m very curious about though. A $400 AR platform gun is a rarity.

The other thing that makes me feel funny about this is that the receiver is the only part considered a “firearm” here, so I feel like that’s the last place you should play with reduction in costs. You can buy a decent lower for a couple hundred bucks, the rest you could pick up piecemeal pretty cheaply. It’s the beauty of the platform - parts from multiple manufacturers, provided they have decent tolerances, should mate right up.

I have an ATI “1911" chambered in .22lr, that I bought new for ~$300. It is a well put together firearm, and tons of fun to shoot. I can’t comment on their ARs, but I was pleasantly surprised by this .22

$399 seems really cheap for a quality semi auto rifle, especially an AR platform. If it were an AK I’d be less skeptical.

It has some newfangled polymer frame, which may reduce the price.

I’ve heard a mix of good and bad things as far as cheap AR platform guns go. I’m open to giving it a shot though, as it wouldn’t be super hard to upgrade certain bits and pieces.

The most important parts of an AR are the bolt, barrel and upper. Individually, high quality examples of each are going to run you more than a properly made and  assembled upper. I have BCM uppers for both my ARs and each cost about $399 back in the Obama days. I think they’re up to $500 now. I built my own lowers for about $100.

My SBR has a BCM upper and a Noveske lower that I assembled myself. probably cost me $800 all in including the tax stamp. For casual plinking the cheapo guns are alright. I used to put a few thousand rounds through this gun in a weekend, so using high quality parts from the get go was worth it.

The upper and lower receivers are both polymer, which kinda concerns me. But the pin is slightly recessed for reinforcement, which is kinda odd.

Either way and depending on how you look at it, there’s some form of compromise depending on the variant. Keymod rail, no keymod rail, no forward assist or something else along those lines.

I tried a couple of ATI accessories for a Mossberg pump back in the day, and I wasn’t impressed with any of them. They all ended up coming off that shotgun pretty quickly.

That price seems way too good to be a quality rifle. I built my AR piece by piece over a year or so in 2011ish. I spent around $1000 before the optic, but I used mil spec parts as my Mendoza line, and many components are far higher quality than anything Uncle Sam ever issued to me in the Marine Corps.

I spent around $150 for an American Spirit Arms stripped lower, and then built from there. I went with a magpul stock, geissele single stage combat trigger, Colt buffer and nickle boron plated bolt, palmetto state armory upper and a very, very high quality FN barrel. It is a weapon I would take into combat without hesitation. I basically built a semi auto M4 carbine clone.

It wasn’t a bad way to build it, as it let me spread out the cost over a year or so and pick up quality parts when I found them at good prices.
