The Fiat X1/9 overheated and needed its coolant bled. Luckily there was this little stream up in the mountains/hills.
Enhance...
The Citroën BX, which has spent many years of its life neglected in a field, sprung a leak and needs to be topped up with a liter of pneumatic fluid a day as a short term solution. It still managed to catch 4-wheel air during an accidental jump and with its 70-72 hp NA diesel, 165 mm narrow tires and 178k miles it managed to outrun some roadsters with far superior power to weight ratios and handling. Insanity conquers capability, I guess. Additionally: I saw over 100 mph on a not very straight rural b road. With a 72 hp NA diesel family car.
Notice the stranded Fiat in the background
2 days down, 3 to go. Due to driving constantly there’s a chronic lack of picture (locations), sadly.

When I was a kid (mid 1970s), there was a neon green X1/9 that parked across the street from my house. I was so smitten with that car. I thought it looked like an X-wing fighter.

Be careful with running fresh water in your coolant system for a long period of time without some sort of additive to prevent rust!

The BX – all flavours – is a greatly underrated car.

Oh yeah don’t worry it’ll be getting changed as soon as we’re back, and I did sort of pre-empt it slightly and had a litre of coolant with me :)

It’s indecently quick for a 70hp car. Hills not so much, but twisties it’s faster than it has any right to be. Been speaking with Duurtlang about engine swaps for things like the 2.0l XU 8v turbo he’s put in his 205 CTi...

Wow those are some stunning views!
Sounds like you guys are having fun! I can imagine driving a slow old diesel fast enough to jump it must take some courage, haha
The picture with the BX and the X1/9 way back in the background looks like it could have been taken sometime in the 80s! (If I find time I will edit it to make it look like film).

I’m quite pleased with how that picture turned out. The composition is perfect, you can actually identify the red paint without being distracted by the years of dirt its covered with and the relatively shitty camera on my >2 years old <€200 Chinese market Xiaomi phone did better than expected.

I’m regretting it not going to Wales right now. You really know how to make us jealous with your photos;)

I’m really having a great time flogging it around, driving it on its limits. Slow car very fast. And its taking it as a champ. Bonus is that when others complain about bumps and road irregularities I have no clue what they’re talking about, the hydropneumatic suspension makes it extremely comfortable. Interesting (to me) is how good the assisted steering is, both in feel, lack of play and its directness. The actually quite precise gearbox (I expected the stirring a pan of soup experience) and the standard sporty yet comfortable seats help too.

Yeah the composition is perfect. But it also wouldn’t be out of place in a family photo album, it just has that certain feel! Very impressed by your Chinese phone, btw

At least the weather is similar to Wales here so there’s that.

I’ve got an almost identical picture. Only real difference the location of the wiper. I left them on, on interval.
Pictures did get automatic HDR after treatment when I shot them.

It almost makes me think we should go have our own meet, for people that regret not going, haha
