Here’s a handful of brand new cars the general public has no idea exist..
1) Hyundai Ioniq. Really good looks for a slippery hybrid, reasonable price, and damn good mpgs. I’ve never actually seen one on the road, ever.
2) Honda Fit. I didn’t know this body style existed, and have never seen one on the road. That’s probably because the Civic, Accord, and HRV all meet or exceed the Fit’s mpg, and the CRV is close. With the Civic hatchback on the scene, there’s really no place or reason for the fit to limp along... hence the lack of marketing.
3) Kia Niro. I think it looks fantastic, and the reviews have all been great. However I’ve never actually seen an ad for one. I swear they are selling just by word of mouth, but at least they are selling. I see more and more of these every week.
4)

1 thru 3, you’ll see a lot of each if you come to New York State. 4, not so much.

I got curious about the Ioniq the other day, and man they are cheap. You can get a new one, base of course(but ot has Carplay and Android Auto), for under $20k. That’s not bad for 58 hwy/55 city and a 10/100k warranty in not a complete shitbox.

I like the Fit. When I purchased my Civic in 15 I wanted a Fit, but I just couldn’t find a comfortable driving position. That being said, yes the Fit needs a redesign, or at the very least, better engine choices. The fact that their smallest vehicle is the least efficient in their entire car lineup is boggling.
Oh, and a side note. Hey Honda, how about a Fit SI. I mean come on, it’s right there. Put the engine from the Civic Hatch in it.

1-2 are relatively common around Seattle, I have seen a few 3, 4 had a batch in local rental fleets last year but not much exposure.

They look better in real life. There is a gray one that travels the opposite way on my route to and from work. Dark colors hide the catfish grille. (I’ve seen a white one it looked bad.) It is one of the better looking Toyotas when it is a dark color. Mazda did a good job on the design.

I would add several Lincolns to this but the MKZ is the most intriguing. I have never seen the refreshed 2017 one so far. I have seen the new Continental but not this.
If you can get beyond the fact that this is a fancy Fusion, You can get a year old 400HP, 400 Lb/Ft AWD sedan for around $30K with less than 30k miles
Also Kia Cadenza, I never seen the new one
and do you know the 2017 Hyundai Azera is still listed on their site? https://www.hyundaiusa.com/azera/index.aspx

I’d be sad to see the Fit go, it’s a great car for the niche segment it’s in.

They’re better in real life when you can’t see the grill? So they’re not better in real life then because the grill is only thing that ruins it (I agree Mazda did a good job).

I see facelifted MKZ’s on occasion, more often than the Continental, which is NOT saying much.
Seems like the Continental has supplanted the MKS (and Town Car before that) as a car that is ONLY sold to livery services. :/

I see all of these on occasion, except the Ioniq. The Niro is a damn good looking car- - someone here at work has one.
Seems like I saw a few Niro commercials at launch, and then they stopped entirely? No idea why - it and the Ioniq seem pretty nice.

I see the occasional Fit, but the HR-V is choking it out. I see those all the time.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

I see plenty of new Fits and have since they rust hit the market. If anything I’d say with the Fit available there’s no reason to have a Civic hatchback. However I will say it’s obvious that the HRV is stealing Fit, Civic, and CRV sales.

I feel they put the Civics 1.5t engine in the Fit my wife would be getting a new car.

The HR-V desperately needs the 1.5t.

The Kia Niro is booming in Mexico. I guess all they have to say is
Do you hate paying road tax? do you hate paying gasoline? Do you like not loooking like a fucking dork in a prius?

I see a TON of fits down here in SoCal, stupid used prices on them too. 6K for a ten year old example with body damage and 150K miles.
I’ve seen a few ioniqs, but most likely a result of Cali’s love of all things hybrid, same for the Niro

I actually saw three Ioniqs on Sunday when we took a long drive. I really like how they look and had no idea how cheaply you can buy one.
If I was looking for a new car it would probably make the shortlist.

The Niro is selling like bonkers and I’m happy for it. The Fit you’re right – you don’t see nearly as many of this generation.
I’ve seen one Ioniq, and you’re right I totally forgot it existed. Actually seems like a great car for a great bargain, and doesn’t look like it got hit with the ugly stick either. And comes in 3 flavors which is nice too…especially the PHEV that has a 32 mile electric-only range that will do nicely for my daily commute but still give the ICE option for longer journeys. Definitely a contender for when my current EV lease is up if it’s still on sale (hopefully at a stupidly obscene discount too if the current trend of not selling continues).
