Made more progress on the project last night.
Had the wiring harness half swapped when I started:
The new harness is hanging across here, the old harness is out. After some more routing and deciding I didn’t care about A/C:
Wiring is all routed through. Then I set to worked getting it ready to pull the old driveline out and ended up creating the rare Hover Mopar:
Once the driveline is out I plan on giving the engine bay a good pressure wash, then a quick spray black just to clean it up.

While you are at it, plan on putting some new struts, springs and strut bushings on the beast. My recollection from my K car years about 25 tears ago was the the originals lasted about 50,000 miles at best.

I would say you recollect wrong as it still has the original suspension parts at 160k? Then again, this is a AA car, not a K. ;)
I’ve never had a 90s Mopar need suspension under 150k and that’s on our garbage excuse for roads around here. Usually 150-180k is when they start going to hell.

Well..... I just found american struts of that era to be junk.
I pulled some off my Transport and not only was the gas gone, so was the fluid. My GLH had a similar story. I was just thinking that if you wanted to make it really nice, a set of new KYB’s might really improve things.
Perhaps minivans were different but just a thought.

Wow, seeing the underhood photos brings back memories. The good ol 2.2l, or is that one punched out to be a 2.5? All the ones I had were the 2.2l and they would tick tick tick to the point it sounded like they were coming apart, but my uncle always told me that was just how they sounded, called it a wrist pin slap, which know what I know now, still doesn’t sound like a good thing. 89 k-car and my 87 voyager both had the same mill, except I believe the voyager was still carbureted, and the k-car had the same Throttle body injection that yours does. Thanks for the photos. Good luck with the remaining transplant.

Any of my Mopars of the era had no issue with suspension. Acclaims, Spirits, Vans all made well over 150k before the struts started getting bad. When they do go, I replace them with KYB quick struts and KYB shocks in the rear, with Moog joints, and they’re good to go again.
96-up, If you make 100k you did well. Our 06 Stratus needed everything done at 95k.
We have had very bad luck with Hondas and Toyotas needing suspension replaced every 60-80k though.

This one is a 2.5L. It runs smooth as silk, but the shop that worked on it prior used so much stop leak in it, the majority of the cooling ports are plugged. Instead of dealing with getting it cleaned out, I decided just to use the 3.0/4-speed I have sitting around.
I know a lot of them made noise from the rockers needing adjustment, causing the tick tick tick, but this one has none of that.

That’s a shame about the stop leak. That stuff shouldn’t be allowed to exist.

I agree. So much easier to fix the actual issue than it is to fix the issue+all the additional issues caused by the stop leak.
Hey, certified mechanics though right?: https://oppositelock.kinja.com/fun-things-you-find-1823373043
