I also had a car called The Queen Mary. But that was in honour of its throttle response not its size.

It was a clapped out Austin Maxi which cost me 50 pounds, and whose automatic transmission was so f*cked that it basically didn’t work until the fluid was up to temperature. So the morning startup routine was to stoke up the power plant, stick it in gear, and ring down to the engine room for flank speed. Then after a couple of minutes you’d see perceptible forward motion, and a mile or so later you’d be able to achieve 30mph. Pissed the neighbours off no end, since I was on the 6am shift at the time.

Steering response wasn’t much better - you needed to start applying helm pretty much as soon as a corner came in sight.
