Saw this beautiful restored !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on ebay and began reading to see what is obviously a nightmare of a resto-mod.....
This is a tale as old as time, a car owner wants more horsepower, a mechanic is willing to take his money and swaps in an M3 drive train, but yet, like some twisted fairy tale where you wish on a genie only to find out that wishing every car was a brown, manual, diesel wagon and every girl was Kate Upton, was actually a bad idea and have to give your last wish to undue the scenario, the result is a car that;

Oof. I give the seller credit for fessing up to this, and I get that the restomod temptation can be strong.
But somewhere along the line, somebody led this guy down a very dumb path. That, or he pushed a shop to do a dumb thing.
Seems salvageable at the right price though, and it’s a pretty car.

If you read the tale closely you’ll note that the seller speaks of the mechanic who recommended the M3 engine and tranny and his new mechanic who has identified that engine’s fitment into the chassis as the problem.
It’s really tough to understand the problem too as the enginebay pictures seem to show the engine nicely slotted in there. My guess is the problem has more to do with the overall length of the drive train from an e30 M3 being too short for the 3.0CS. At very least I’m imagining a custom drive shaft is going to be required. I think I’d find a rusted example and swap it back to original

Simple.
Pull the drivetrain back out
Sell the parts
Install an LS instead

Yeah, I skimmed it pretty quickly, obviously.
There isn’t enough pictures to really tell - - possibly engine width is causing issues with where the steering is running, or the bottom end forced them to move some things around.
Either way, I’d think you need to know these cars very well, and get it up on a lift to see how bad that looks.
